Missing Pieces – East Coast Premier

December 23 @ 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Imagine community arts night meets supper club. That is the energy we are capturing at this event. Come share a meal with friends and neighbors, browse art by local artists and students, and then end the evening with the first East Coast screening of the movie Missing Pieces, written and directed by the Valley’s own Cameron Andrews.
Cameron and the Missing Pieces cast and crew have been screening the movie at film festivals, having won Best Director and Best Actress in a feature at North Hollywood Cinefest. Cameron wanted this event to be about community and sharing the importance of supporting the Arts, especially in our young people.
Feel free to join us for dinner and art browsing, or you can also drop in for the movie at 7pm.   Admission will be by donation, and all money will go to the Big Pic.
If you would like to join us you can sign up for the potluck here:

Cam’s vision:
Missing Pieces has always been a community affair, from the crowdfunding that made it possible to the time donated by its cast and crew in order to get it made. I hope to keep this spirit going through every screening. The Valley is where I first learned what community meant, and I have carried the Valley with me through every phase of my life. With this event I’d like to not only screen my film for my hometown, but actively involve the community as well. Support from family, friends, and teachers is what initially gave me the belief in myself to pursue art as a career. Now, bringing this project of mine home, I’d love to offer space to local artists, especially Harwood students, whether painters, poets, or even filmmakers, to showcase their art ahead of our showing. And nothing says family like a home cooked meal. I’d love to host a community potluck before the screening in tandem with the local artists’ display to allow the community to gather, hang out, and enjoy some local art before the screening. I see it as an arts-focused supper club, with our film as the centerpiece. I believe that the future of art, and film specifically lies not in seeing it only as a finished product to be consumed, but as a process which has been undertaken by the artists who made it. I want to celebrate that process and the joy of creating with the people who have helped me cultivate that joy.
