Biodiversity Book Discussion and Farm Tour: “Our Better Nature”

July 11 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us for a book reading and discussion of “Our Better Nature” by Curt Lindberg and Eric Hagan as part of the Tri-Town Conservation Commission Biodiversity Series and the Climate and Ecology Book Club. Grounded in experience and science, Our Better Nature presents readers with stories, essays, and resources to guide and inspire action in favor of nature everywhere. This discussion is hosted by Friends of the Mad River, and the Waitsfield, Fayston, and Warren Conservation Commissions.

We’ll start with a book reading by one of the authors, Curt Lindberg, and George Schenk (the inspiration for one of the essays in the book), followed by a discussion and reflection on individual actions we can take to improve biodiversity and ending with a farm tour of the biodiversity features of Lareau Farm. Free book copies will be available to attendees on a first-come, first-served basis.

Curt Lindberg is a resident of Waitsfield who helped found the Vermont Alliance for Half-Earth, serves on the Waitsfield Conservation Commission and is a coordinator of the Vermont Master Naturalist program in the MRV.

George Schenk is a baker, gardener, founder, and CEO of American Flatbread at Lareau Farm and a member of the Warren Conservation Commission.

Testimonials:
“This book could not be more timely, more charming, more useful, or more needed! Anyone who cares about our small and lovely state will want to spend time with it – its impact will spread beyond Vermont’s borders.” – BILL McKIBBEN, AUTHOR WANDERING HOME, FOUNDER 350.ORG
