December 11, 1948 Mad River Glen opened to the public for the first time, whisking skiers 2000 vertical feet to the summit of Stark Mountain on the Single. The American Steel & Wire Company had installed nearly 600 of these state-of-the-art aerial tramway systems across the country and together with Roland Palmedo brought lift-served skiing to the Mad River Valley. This season marks 75 years of skiing here at Mad River Glen, come celebrate with us!
