Friday, April 26 5-6 pm
Mad River Valley Arts, 5031 Main St, Waitsfield
Join Evan Premo (multi-instrumentalist/composer and Scrag Mountain Music co-Artistic Director) and Mikahely (Burlington-based singer-songwriter instrumentalist originally from Madagascar) as they improvise on instruments made of trees. Evan and Mikahely will musically explore what trees can teach us about who we are as spiritual beings, and Mikahely will speak about the importance of trees in Madagasy spiritual practice. Evan’s Spiritual Soundings feature improvised loop-based ambient music presented with an intentional theme. The community is invited to participate using any spiritual modality — meditation, prayer, deep listening, movement etc — while holding the intention of the session’s theme. The hope is that this music and these gatherings will facilitate deep meditative experience which connects audiences to one another and all consciousness.
Space is limited and there are a limited number of chairs available. Attendees are encouraged to reserve tickets in advance and are invited to bring a cushion or mat to sit on.
This program is presented in conjunction with Mad River Valley Arts’s exhibition RISE: Trees, Our Botanical Giants running through April 26. Reception following the Spiritual Sounding.
Please note that space is limited and there are a limited number of chairs available. Attendees are encouraged to reserve “Pay what you can” tickets in advance at scragmountainmusic.org and are invited to bring a cushion or mat to sit on.
