SUMMARY:Album Release Concert
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an intimate living-room performance by multi-instrumentalist Raphael Groten and violinist Rebecca Kodis as they share songs from their new CD\, Unity—a musical prayer for healing. We’ll gather in the Common House of LTA’s co-housing village for this cozy event! \nUnity began in 2020\, when Raphael met Rebecca while playing a kirtan with a mutual friend. As their friendship and partnership grew\, so did the repertoire found on this album. With ten songs offered as a healing balm for the world\, Unity is Raphael and Rebecca’s prayer for this time. \nReturning to Imaginary Road Studios to work with Will Ackerman and Tom Eaton\, Raphael brought Rebecca and captured an album of heart-opening\, soul-soothing music. Unity features Raphael’s nylon string guitar and flutes accompanied by Rebecca’s angelic violin. Rebecca’s violin shines\, enriched at times with multiple layers creating an orchestral quality listeners have yet to hear in Raphael’s music. The additional highlights of Eugene Friesen on cello\, Michael Manring on fretless bass and Will Ackerman’s timeless guitar weave seamlessly with the meditative and visionary qualities of this recording.

SUMMARY:Elemental
DESCRIPTION:ELEMENTAL is a group art show that speaks to the subject of water and its soulful impact in our daily lives. The global water cycle has a significant grasp on the hold of human lives and all other species with rhythms that pass through soils\, vegetation and rocks before its destination into the atmospheres. Waterways from raindrop to stream-flow transport carbon and nutrients much like the human circulatory system in order to sustain life on this planet. It goes without saying we are vulnerable to the forces of water in complex ways. While water can destroy our built environment if climate ‘changes’ reach peak levels\, water can also be one of our elixir’s in life\, offering wisdom and endless inspiration. Artists\nin Elemental share the ethereal beauty of water and ask us to reflect upon our deep connection to this element of nature. Unusual materials and whimsical forms in their varying creative practices force the viewer to contemplate colors\, textures\, and emotions of imaginal waterscapes\, and to evoke the connection between them through the balance between harmony and disharmonies\, structure and chaos and the dance between light and shadow.

SUMMARY:AFROMAN
DESCRIPTION:DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW!!!! This is going to be an amazing show at the newest venue located in the Mad River Valley\, Afterthoughts. AFROMAN with Vermont’s own MISTER BURNS!!!!!! Anyone who has attended any of our shows knows the talent of Mister Burns\, but this is going to be epic paired up with a hip hop icon. \nAfroman is an incredible hip hop artist that puts on one of the best live performances that you will ever see. Afroman’s best-known song is the 2001 hit “Because I Got High”\, which gained popularity through Napster\, local radio play\, a feature on Howard Stern’s radio show\, and the ‘stoner’ movie ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back’ (and accompanying soundtrack). His other most popular song\, “Crazy Rap”\, is often referred to as “Colt 45” because of its lyric “Colt 45 and two Zig Zags”.Afroman is also fond of referencing his independence from record labels and the “corporate world” and cites himself as an example of how an artist can take recording and distribution into their own hands.\nIn 2014 Afroman became a spokesman for NORML and Weedmaps\, remade “Because I Got High” in favor of legalization\, and released the EP “One Hit Wonder” and concept album “The Frorider.” http://www.afromanmuzzicc.

SUMMARY:Community Line Dancing: November Pop-Up!
DESCRIPTION:Alright MRV\, I think we all need to DANCE!\n(It’s good for your mental health**). And I’m going to try to do my bit to make that happen. \nI’m hoping to host at least 1 such pop-up every month this winter with locations TBD on a monthly basis. Excited to announce our next pop-up will be at the Waitsfield Village Meeting House! (1st floor of Waitsfield UCC\, 4355 Main St) \nPre-registration online preferred (through my website)\, or pay at the door:\nPay what you can at multiple price points (from $11)\, trying to make this financially accessible to everyone! \nHere’s what to expect & bring:\nAttire:\n+ comfy shoes for dancing (boots are fun but not required)\n+ layers—not sure what the temp will be like that day\, but it’s always good to have the ability to thermoregulate in the moment! \nLessons:\n+~ 1 hr reviewing/teaching different line dances at multiple entry levels—see tutorial videos on my website to review “Muddy Muddy” and “Wagon Wheel” from October’s pop-up\n+ After lessons I’ll play music and folks will get a chance to practice the dances we learned at different tempos .\n+ Feel free to bring snacks and NON ALCOHOLIC beverages (house rules for the Meeting House). I’ll provide some light snacks and water. \nHope to see you there! \n** No\, seriously. check out this meta-analysis of dance as a mental health intervention: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/17432979.2024.2377389#abstract
