Ben’s most recent Broadway and National Tour credits include: the Broadway National Tour of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical (dance captain/swing)\, the National tour of Wicked (Ensemble)\, on Broadway in Frozen (Olaf u/s\,Duke Weselton u/s)\, and both the NY & Touring companies of Jersey Boys (Frankie Valli alternate/Joe Pesci\, asst dance captain). Most recently he played Charlie Wilcox in the DC premiere of the Tony Award winning play The Inheritance at Roundhouse Theatre and Fyedka in Fiddler on the Roof at Signature Theatre. Other regional credits include the world premieres of The Flamingo Kid (Hartford Stage)\, Only Human (Off Broadway)\, and Sousatzka (Elgin Theatre – Toronto). TV/Film: Season 3 finale of Pose. A delightful blend of slapstick humor\, poignant emotion\, and social commentary\, The Gold Rush encapsulates Chaplin’s strengths as a writer\, director\, and star. While on a mission to find gold in Alaska\, a lone prospector and Big Jim\, a gold seeker\, take refuge in a cabin during a blizzard. Chaplin – proving his belief that tragedy and ridicule are never far apart – set out to transform tales of privation and horror into a comedy. He decided that his familiar tramp figure should become a gold prospector\, joining the mass of brave optimists to face all the hazards of cold\, starvation\, solitude\, and the occasional incursion of a grizzly bear.\nRandal Pierce is a composer and pianist living in Burlington\, VT. He has been commissioned to write scores for silent films by The Flynn Theater\, The Vermont International Film Festival\, Burlington City Arts\, The Discover Jazz Festival\, The Green Mountain Film Festival and Big Picture Theater. Randal is also a music director for UVM’s Department of Theater and Dance and performs and writes for theater workshops\, performances and recordings in NYC.\nTickets will be available at the box-office. This workshop will be offered the last Friday of every month (most months). \nThis is a one time\, two hour introduction to learn the basics of wheel throwing. \nYou will be guided from a ball of clay to your first bowl or cup. SUMMARY:Journey through Dance
DESCRIPTION:Waltzes and Tangos\, Minuets and Gavottes – the Vermont Philharmonic’s annual Family Concert at 2 pm on Sunday March 8th is a Journey through Dance\, with music by J.S. Bach\, Offenbach\, Prokofiev\, Handel\, Tchaikovsky\, and more. Conducted by Lou Kosma\, the concert at the Barre Opera House is a family favorite. Audiences will happily recognize Offenbach’s Can-Can\, Khachaturian’s Masquerade Waltz\, and Angel Villoldo’s Kiss of Fire tango among others. \nIn addition to the dances\, old and new\, the program features two special new works. Michael Close’s North Star was written for virtuoso violist Elizabeth Reid\, who will be performing the work at the concert. Michael is a cellist and music educator living in Worcester VT\, and the senior composer-mentor at Music-Comp\, encouraging and supporting students in composing and arranging music. Grayson Eley\, a multi-talented freshman at Harwood Union\, has enjoyed his participation in Music-Comp for three years. He wrote Homecoming to celebrate that special place of physical or mental welcome we call “home.” \nThe Vermont Philharmonic is celebrating its sixty-seventh year of making beautiful music in Central Vermont. The concert is sponsored by Passumpsic Bank of St Johnsbury. Tickets are $25 for adults\, $20 for seniors\, $5 for students.
