SUMMARY:Pianist Claire Black: “Forests & Fairy Tales”
DESCRIPTION:Pianist Claire Black creates a musical space for imagination and reflection with works by Schumann\, Korngold\, Janáček\, and Bortkiewicz. Evocative titles depict ancient myths\, wilderness and weather\, flora and fauna. Audience contributions\, after expenses\, will be split equally between New Community Project (to support weekly food shares) and JUMP / Joint Urban Ministry Project (to fund bus vouchers). SUMMARY:Line Dancing Pop-Up with Larissa
DESCRIPTION:Alright MRV\, I hear you want to DANCE! Help me try out some future programming for next season—if folks are interested\, I’ll offer this kind of gathering more regularly in the future. \nI’m offering more LINE DANCING lessons by popular demand before we close up Stowell Barn for the season.\nJoin me for some low-stakes social dancing that you can do solo—no dance experience required (plus no hetero-normative male/female\, lead/follow roles to navigate!). \nThis Thursday it will be pay what you wish at the door via Venmo\, Square (credit card)\, or cash. \nHere’s what to expect & bring:\nAttire:\n+ comfy shoes for dancing (boots are fun but not required)\n+ wear warm clothes you can move in\, specifically LAYERS! It’s going to be chilly this late in the season\, but once we start moving we may warm up some and may want to don/doff layers. I’ll have the patio heater going\, but keep in mind that Stowell Barn is a 3 season space \nLessons & Dancing:\n+ ~ 45 min to 1 hr lessons for 3 different line dances at multiple entry levels (beginner & advanced beginner); folks can participate in as much or as little as they’d like.\n+ After lessons I’ll play music and folks will get a chance to practice the dances we learned at different tempos on our sprung floor (your knees and feet will thank you)\n+ if folks have dances they’d like to do that I’m NOT teaching\, I’m happy to take requests for later in the evening! Just let me know what songs to add to the playlist. I’m planning to cover “Muddy Muddy\,” “A Bar Song (Tipsy)\,” and “Wagon Wheel” \nOther info:\n+ Feel free to BYOB—I’ll provide water too.\n+ Couches and seating available when folks want to sit out anything\, or need a rest between dances\n+ Parking on the grass by the barn\n+ Barn is accessible by ramp (from a grass parking surface)\, but the dance floor has a 2 inch step up\n+ portalet available on site; it unfortunately is not accessible \nQuestions? Don’t hesitate to reach out!

SUMMARY:Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap
DESCRIPTION:Part murder mystery and part psychological thriller\, this play is brimming with intrigue\, sophisticated humor and surprising twists. After a local woman is murdered\, the guests and staff at Monkswell Manor find themselves stranded during a snowstorm. A police detective (Ray Merrill\, Montpelier) arriving on skis\, interrogates the suspects: the newlyweds running the house (Sarah McDougal\, Warren\, and Wes Olds\, Graniteville); a spinster with a curious background (Karin Stevenson\, Essex); an architect who seems better equipped to be a chef (Paul Cavaliere\, Montpelier); a retired Army major (Brent Adams\, Warren); a strange man who claims his car has overturned in a drift (Aric Brown\, Middlesex); and a former judge who makes life miserable for everyone (Marci Robinson\, Warren). It soon becomes clear that the killer is among them\, and the seven strangers grow increasingly suspicious of one another. When a second murder takes place\, tensions and fears escalate. \nThe play is directed by Ruth Ann Pattee (Fayston) with assistance from Stage Manager Joanne Puente (Worchester). Set design is also by Pattee\, with Doug Bergstein (Waitsfield) as set build crew chief. The lighting and sound design is by Jasper Mayone (Waitsfield) with assistance from Irene Halibozek (Williston).

DESCRIPTION:WILD PINK is a group show about the natural and cultural relationship of the ancient color PINK. There is certainly no dearth of pink in the natural world or in human culture. We accessorize\, cosmeticize\, gender-ize and interiorize to the point of being ‘tickled pink’. In the animal and floral world pink as hue and shade exists multifold. Whether to shock\, protest or code the millennials\, pink has survived the test of time. This show examines the fluid origins of PINK in ‘natural’ and/or ‘cultural’ contexts. This is open media\, interdisciplinary\, multimedia\, installation\, all contemporary crafts and design arts in two/three dimensions for the wall and floor. \nReception & Artist talks: Sept. 26th\, 5-7pm

SUMMARY:Album Release Concert
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an intimate living-room performance by multi-instrumentalist Raphael Groten and violinist Rebecca Kodis as they share songs from their new CD\, Unity—a musical prayer for healing. We’ll gather in the Common House of LTA’s co-housing village for this cozy event! \nUnity began in 2020\, when Raphael met Rebecca while playing a kirtan with a mutual friend. As their friendship and partnership grew\, so did the repertoire found on this album. With ten songs offered as a healing balm for the world\, Unity is Raphael and Rebecca’s prayer for this time. \nReturning to Imaginary Road Studios to work with Will Ackerman and Tom Eaton\, Raphael brought Rebecca and captured an album of heart-opening\, soul-soothing music. Unity features Raphael’s nylon string guitar and flutes accompanied by Rebecca’s angelic violin. Rebecca’s violin shines\, enriched at times with multiple layers creating an orchestral quality listeners have yet to hear in Raphael’s music. The additional highlights of Eugene Friesen on cello\, Michael Manring on fretless bass and Will Ackerman’s timeless guitar weave seamlessly with the meditative and visionary qualities of this recording.
