SUMMARY:Holiday Ornament Making at Blockhouse
DESCRIPTION:Join us for some holiday fun! Parents and children ages 3 and up can come make their very own ornaments to adorn their trees or hang around their houses. With a wide variety of available shapes\, participants will cut ornaments from slabs of clay\, using color and texture to decorate them. Examples & instruction will be provided. \nIf desired and time allows\, participants can make a small gift item as well. Anyone can feel free to bring their own cookie cutter shapes\, though the studio has a large selection. \nThis has been a very popular workshop each year. \nOrnaments will be left at Blockhouse to be dried\, fired and finished in a clear glaze. Pieces will be ready to pick up in approximately 2-3 weeks- just in time to start decorating!

DESCRIPTION:Here’s your chance to try your hand at the potter’s wheel! This workshop will be offered the last Friday of every month (most months). \nThis is a one time\, two hour introduction to learn the basics of wheel throwing. \nYou will be guided from a ball of clay to your first bowl or cup. Using a simple to understand process\, you will learn the foundational techniques needed to enjoy this meditative and somewhat magical craft. Most students will successfully throw at least 2 pots which will be fired and finished by us\, ready to pick up in approximately 3 weeks. \nIf you throw more than 2 that you would like to keep we can finish them as well for $15/pot (first 2 are included). Shipping is available for additional fees.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for some holiday fun! Parents and children ages 3 and up can come make their very own ornaments to adorn their trees or hang around their houses. With a wide variety of available shapes\, participants will cut ornaments from slabs of clay\, using color and texture to decorate them. Examples & instruction will be provided. \nIf desired and time allows\, participants can make a small gift item as well. Anyone can feel free to bring their own cookie cutter shapes\, though the studio has a large selection. \nThis has been a very popular workshop each year. \nOrnaments will be left at Blockhouse to be dried\, fired and finished in a clear glaze. SUMMARY:A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story performed by Willem Lange
DESCRIPTION:Beloved Yankee storyteller Willem Lange is back- for his 50th Anniversary – Live and On Stage (and livestreamed) at Lost Nation Theater performing his reading of “A Christmas Carol: a ghost story” by Charles Dickens. Lange uses the cutting of the novel Dickens himself used when performing the tale. Emmy-winner Lange’s tradition of reading Dickens’ Christmas Carol began in 1975. He always performs to benefit “The Haven” in the Upper Valley. In addition\, LNT will donate a percentage of its proceeds to Just Basics Food Pantry and Good Samaritan. The performance runs approximately 70 minutes without an intermission. \nCovid Safety Protocols: Masks are strongly encouraged. (Seating may be slightly reduced to allow for more patron spacing). LNT’s State of the Art Bio-Defense Air Purification “Synexis” System is also in service 24/7 keeping everyone as safe as possible. \nThe Flood made LNT/City Hall’s elevator inoperable\, requiring climbing stairs to attend in person. The play will be available digitally to make the show accessible to those unable to physically join us. We appreciate your understanding during this emergency situation.

DESCRIPTION:On Saturday December 13 at 5:30 pm\, First Congregational Church of Berlin (FCCB)\, 1808 Scott Hill Road\, Berlin VT will hold an opening reception for “Fantastic Florals and More” a new exhibition of paintings by Arthur Zorn. \nArthur\, an abstract expressionist who creates paintings out of contemplation\, emotions\, and deconstructed scenes from flowers to natural landscapes\, has held many exhibitions at FCCB and elsewhere. \nThis new exhibition will be available in the FCCB Community Hall through Feb. 1\, 2026. It can be viewed Sundays 10:30 am to 1 pm\, and by appointment. Guests will experience cherished holiday music and Broadway favorites performed with the simplicity and elegance of acoustic arrangements\, allowing the artists’ voices and stories to take center stage. \nThis performance continues the Broadway Rocks tradition of sharing world-class music with Vermont communities while supporting the importance of the performing arts in local schools and organizations. Community members are invited to enjoy a heartfelt and unforgettable evening of seasonal music inside one of Waterbury’s most beloved and inspiring venues. \nAbout Merritt David Janes \nOriginally from Colchester\, Vermont\, Janes is a graduate of the Circle in the Square Theatre School in New York City and is an alumnus of the University of Maine (Class of ’04; 2012 recipient of the Spirit of Maine Alumni Achievement Award). Janes’professional career began playing the title role in the first Broadway National Tour of the Wedding Singer as Robbie Hart. He then moved immediately into his second Broadway National Tour\, in his second consecutive title role\, as the youngest actor ever to tour the part of the murderous barber Sweeney Todd. He next played the magical French candelabra\, Lumiere\, as an original cast member of Disney’s newest creative version of the Beauty and the Beast Broadway National Tour. This role served as a great contrast to both of his previous productions\, as did the role of Lord Farquaad in the Broadway tour of Shrek\, which became an around-the-world adventure with an international run in Asia. He then played the role of Carl Hanratty chasing Frank Abagnale all over the country in the first Broadway Tour of Catch Me If You Can. He was an original cast member in the 25th Anniversary Broadway Tour of Phantom of the Opera and the first Broadway National Tour and Broadway run of School of Rock as Dewey Finn. He most recently performed in the Original Broadway Cast of SMASH and Back to the Future.
