SUMMARY:Stardust
DESCRIPTION:The Mad Collective is proud to share ‘Stardust’\, an exhibition about The Quantum World. \nThe Quantum World is one of uncertainty. One can’t really talk about where a quantum object is\, we can only talk about where we might find it. Yet\, our seemingly solid reality is built upon this tiny world of possibilities\, stuff has form\, the universe has form and we are solid. \nThis show looks at the behavior of photons\, particles and mysterious patterns of quantum phenomena. It inspires us to think about the magic of the quantum fundamental basis to reality and asks us to be curious about where the human species is going. Artists open up to their interpretation of the immaterial while engaging with the scales of the unimaginable tiny to the infinitely large.

SUMMARY:35th Annual Green Mountain Photo Show
DESCRIPTION:Photographs ranging from black and white to color and from realism to abstract are featured in this popular annual show. \nThe spacious galleries\, located in the historic Red Barn\, are the perfect venue for viewing the large format photographs and small intimate images that reflect the diverse contemporary practices of both amateur and professional photographers. The show is especially appealing to children who search out diverse subjects such as animals\, birds and flowers. Assorted subject matter and conceptual experimentation are continuing to enter the foreground of the Vermont vernacular to show the ever-evolving nature of photography with new technologies and formats along with technical manipulation. \nThis exhibition is grounded in the Valley community and continues to inspire all who visit during the leaf-peeping season.

SUMMARY:Inn to Indie Book Tour
DESCRIPTION:Julie Frieder and friends are cycling through Maine and Vermont\, stopping at indie bookstores to share stories about epic family adventure. \nAfter spending 13 months on the road with her family\, Julie wrote “Wonder Year: A Guide to Long-Term Family Travel”—a book born from the real experience of figuring out how to pull up stakes and hit the road for longer than a vacation.\n\n“Wildly inspiring and eminently practical\,” says Florence Williams\, author of The Nature Fix. \nJulie\, a first time indie-author\, will share what she learned about planning and executing adventures\, finding education on the road\, and discovering that family travel doesn’t have to be perfect to be transformative. Whether you’re curious about worldschooling\, dreaming of a summer road trip\, or just wondering how families make it all work\, come join in a wondrous conversation about curiosity\, connection\, and the educational power of travel. \n

SUMMARY:The Valley Players Present “Blithe Spirit”
DESCRIPTION:WAITSFIELD – The Valley Players will present Blithe Spirit\, by Noël Coward\, Fridays-Sundays October 10-26 at the Valley Players Theater\, 4254 Main Street (Route 100)\, Waitsfield\, VT. Friday and Saturday night shows are at 7:30\, and Sunday matinees are at 2 pm.\nThis fall\, experience Blithe Spirit like never before\, reimagined in dazzling black and white. With styling inspired by 1940s cinema\, every element of this production – from costumes to makeup – embraces the elegant world of old Hollywood. It’s a supernatural comedy full of charm\, chaos\, and vintage style. A ghost story never looked so glamorous! \nWhen a séance by Madame Arcati (Sarah Storjohann\, Barre) goes sideways\, Charles Condomine (Lee Chasen) finds himself haunted by his first wife\, Elvira (Sorsha Anderson\, Middletown)\, who has some strong opinions about Charles’ second wife\, Ruth (Shannon McDermott\, Burlington). Also participating in the séance are Charles’ skeptical friends\, Dr. Bradman (Ray Merrill\, Montpelier) and his wife\, Violet (Sarah McDougal\, Warren).Providing them with enthusiastic household service is their maid\, Edith (Cassandra Demarais\, Websterville).\nThe production is directed by Shannon Sanborn (Barre) with lighting design by Irene Halabozak (Williston). Sanborn is also the set designer. “Directing Blithe Spirit in black and white has been such a fun ride\,” said Sanborn. “Every choice from the bold makeup to the clothes and sets has to pop without color. It’s all about mood\, texture and timeless style. I look forward to audiences experiencing the magic!” \nFor tickets and more information\, visit www.valleyplayers.com or email boxoffice@valleyplayers.com.
