SUMMARY:Stardust
DESCRIPTION:The Mad Collective is proud to share ‘Stardust’\, an exhibition about The Quantum World. \nThe Quantum World is one of uncertainty. One can’t really talk about where a quantum object is\, we can only talk about where we might find it. Yet\, our seemingly solid reality is built upon this tiny world of possibilities\, stuff has form\, the universe has form and we are solid. \nThis show looks at the behavior of photons\, particles and mysterious patterns of quantum phenomena. It inspires us to think about the magic of the quantum fundamental basis to reality and asks us to be curious about where the human species is going. Artists open up to their interpretation of the immaterial while engaging with the scales of the unimaginable tiny to the infinitely large.

SUMMARY:The Eternal Song
DESCRIPTION:Playing October 13th @ 7pm Tickets can be purchased at the concession stand. Across sacred lands\, Indigenous voices reveal both the deep wounds of colonization and the ancestral wisdom that guides us toward healing.\nTHE VISION\nOur vision for the 12-film documentary series is to honor Indigenous resilience\, illuminate sacred wisdom held for humanity and Earth\, and invite healing across communities facing trauma and colonial erasure.\nABOUT THE FILM\nThe Eternal Song\, the first in a 12-film documentary series\, is a cinematic journey through timeless lands and Indigenous cultures. Voices from across generations and traditions invite us to witness the enduring scars of colonization on lands and peoples\, and the healing pathways carried through ancestral wisdom.\nEntrusted with medicine stories\, the film grapples with colonial legacies\, intergenerational trauma\, and the culture of separation that fragments our lives.\nThe film reveals how modernity severs our connection to nature\, each other\, and the ancestral realm\, while feeding us empty promises of salvation\, unlimited consumption and economic growth\, and individual happiness.\nAs we are drawn into the intricate web of kinship and honoring the living presence of Mother Earth\, we awaken a deeper remembrance. A sacred dance comes to life and we begin to hear the eternal song of Life itself\, calling us back to belonging. \nBROUGHT TO YOU BY\nSAND is a nonprofit organization under section 501.c.3 of the US tax code. Its headquarters are on Coastal Miwok and Southern Pomo Land in Sebastopol\, CA. We thank the past\, current\, and future Indigenous stewards of this territory.

SUMMARY:Stardust Speaker: Mariama Jones shares “Constellations & Cultures’
DESCRIPTION:Mariama Jones the Science Educator from The Fairbanks Museum comes to Mad River Valley Arts on Oct.17\, 5:30-7pm. \nHumanity’s obsession with the stars is so ancient its been depicted in cave paintings. We have always looked up at the stars with wonder and curiosity which led us to create the patterns that we now call constellations. These constellations often come with stories meant to explain the existence of stars\, tell epic tales or teach important lessons. \nEvery culture has their own constellations and stories which we will explore in this presentation one story at a time. \nJoin us for Constellations & Cultures at Mad River Valley Arts /MRVtv.

SUMMARY:Vermont Women & the Civil War presented by Historian Howard Coffin
DESCRIPTION:Vermont’s remarkable Civil War battlefield record is well documented\, But little is known of how Vermont women sustained the home front. \nWith nearly 35\,000 of the state’s able-bodied men at war\, the monumental tasks of keeping more than 30\,000 farms in operation became very much a female enterprise. And women took the place of men in factories and worked after hours making items needed by the soldiers. \nVermont women served as nurses in the state’s military hospitals and in the war zone. This story is told in their words\, from letters and diaries that describe life during the Civil War in the Green Mountain State.
