DESCRIPTION:Theater For Kids By Kids! At Lost Nation Theater! \nCS Lewis’ classic story of mystical adventure during WWII\, gets a modern twist in this dance theater presentation\, adapted by Kim Bent\, while retaining the spirit of the original. Love\, forgiveness\, journeys of self-discovery\, and dance are at the forefront of this fun 40-minute\, wonderfully imaginative\, ensemble-oriented staging- complete with live music & singing. \n(The culminating project of LNT’s intermediate dance-theater production camp\, performed by LNT’s students aged 9-18.). Directed & Choreographed by Taryn Noelle. Musical Director Timothy Guiles. \nMasks are strongly encouraged. The July 2023 Flood made LNT/City Hall’s elevator inoperable\, requiring climbing stairs to attend in person. DESCRIPTION:Mad River Valley Arts is excited to present its first group show of the year entitled RISE: Trees\, Our Botanical Giants from March 7- April 26\, 2024. There will be a reception on March 7\, 5-7pm when first\, second and third place prize winners will be announced. Twenty-eight artists are participating\, addressing their relationships with trees in 2D and 3D formats\, some employing wood materials which are reclaimed or formally crafted and some using ceramic\, textiles and functional design. DESCRIPTION:Learn How to Prune Fruit Trees While Helping Us Steward the Town Forest\nMarch 10\, 1-3 pm \nBoyce Hill Town Forest includes the remnants of an old apple orchard that needs some attention. As this is the best time of year to prune apple trees\, the Fayston Conservation Commission has invited local landscape architect\, Rachel Grigorian of Clark Brook designs LLC to lead a 90-minute pruning class for a group of supporters on Sunday\, March 10th at 1:00 PM. Participants will learn how to care for trees to maximize their fruit production and health while helping the town with this important stewardship project. While we work\, participants can also learn about the property and the long-term management of this unique 93-acre tract of land that features expansive views of both the Green Mountains and the Northfield Range. At the end of the workshop\, participants will be emailed a PDF summary of the methods learned. \nParticipants should bring any pruning tools they have\, such as loppers\, and small pull saws or folding saws\, as limited loaner tools will be available. DESCRIPTION:The March 14 concert features all of the bands from HUUSD grades 6 –\n12.  It is an opportunity for all of the district 6th grade bands to\nperform together for the first time as well as an opportunity for the\nCBMS HUMS bands to collaborate on a shared performance.  The concert\ncloses with performances from the Harwood HS band and Harwood Assembly\nBand.

SUMMARY:Poet’s Choice
DESCRIPTION:What if an angel offered a choice between a lifetime of happiness or fame and fortune as a result of expressing  art? That is the question that Margaret (Sarah Storjohann\, Barre)\, a poet\, writer\, and English professor\, must face in this World Premier play by Vermonter Mary Pratt. Pem (Susan Lonyd\, Fayston)\, a fallen angel chosen by God (Cynthia Seckler\, Fayston) and Satan (Gabrielle Tamasi\, Barre) themselves to settle this wager\, comes to earth to find an artist to pose this question to\, with admittance to heaven and wings or hell and a flamethrower on the line for Pem. The show also features Sarah DeBouter (Berlin)\, Wes Olds (Graniteville)\, and Carrie Phillips (Waterbury). Bridget Edwards (Winooski) is the Stage Manager and the show is directed by Doug Bergstein (Waitsfield). \nShow dates/times are Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2 pm\, March 8-17. DESCRIPTION:Registration is now open for the 36th Annual Chez Henri Cup Race & Raffle! \nHappening on Saturday\, March 16\, at Sugarbush Resort\, the Chez Henri Cup & Raffle benefits Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice. This timed race is for all ages and levels. We hope you can join us on the mountain! \nNot a skier? Not a problem. Purchase a raffle ticket (or three or five!) online for a chance to win over 30 raffle items from local businesses\, including skis\, custom footbeds\, and massages. You do not need to be present at the event to win. Your support through raffle ticket purchases directly benefits Central Vermonters needing home health and hospice services. \nEvent Information: \nRace Day is March 16 from 10 am to Noon at Lincoln Peak\, Sugarbush Resort. \nThe $40 registration fee includes two timed runs\, an entry gift\, and a raffle ticket. Ski passes are not included. \nJoin us for a post-race gathering at 1 pm at Chez Henri Bistro to hear the race results and raffle winners! \nRaffle Tickets: One raffle ticket is included with the registration fee.
