SUMMARY:John Anderson Exhibit at MRV Arts
DESCRIPTION:What’s the big idea? As a freshman in college\, my first grade on a paper was a D-\nminus. When I spoke to the professor about my failure\, he told me I knew the\nmaterial\, the facts\, but had no Big Idea. This was a huge lesson then and has\nremained so ever since. \nConcept\, line and space drive the inquiry in my creative practice\, both as an architect\nand as an artist. In my work\, both line and space are constructed to serve an imagined — even\nirrational — beginning (The Big Idea). A conceptual narrative takes shape\, a backstory\nmight develop\, a fantasy or a metaphor might direct the path of the project. As I\nproceed in my design process a kind of acceptance of a new reality starts to inform\nme and a dialogue of choices and decisions take off.

SUMMARY:Apple Tree Pruning Workshop at Boyce Hill Town Forest
DESCRIPTION:Learn How to Prune Fruit Trees While Helping Us Steward the Town Forest\nMarch 10\, 1-3 pm \nBoyce Hill Town Forest includes the remnants of an old apple orchard that needs some attention. As this is the best time of year to prune apple trees\, the Fayston Conservation Commission has invited local landscape architect\, Rachel Grigorian of Clark Brook designs LLC to lead a 90-minute pruning class for a group of supporters on Sunday\, March 10th at 1:00 PM. Participants will learn how to care for trees to maximize their fruit production and health while helping the town with this important stewardship project. While we work\, participants can also learn about the property and the long-term management of this unique 93-acre tract of land that features expansive views of both the Green Mountains and the Northfield Range. At the end of the workshop\, participants will be emailed a PDF summary of the methods learned. \nParticipants should bring any pruning tools they have\, such as loppers\, and small pull saws or folding saws\, as limited loaner tools will be available. Ladders are also needed. \nTo register\, please click here:  or call Pete Colgan at 781-771-5568. A suggested donation of $40 per person will help support the property and its ongoing stewardship needs. \nBoyce Hill Town Forest is located at the top of Boyce Road in N. Fayston. PLEASE NOTE THAT PARKING IS VERY LIMITED. Snowshoes will be helpful if we get some more snow!
