DESCRIPTION:The show originated in 1997 with 10 artists showing their work in the Warren Village Town Hall\, now occupied by the Warren Library. Seeking more space to accommodate the growing number of participants\, as well as to facilitate planning for the library\, the show moved to the Red Barn Galleries in 2003\, courtesy of owner George Schenk. The annual show now averages more than 30 participants with professional\, amateur and “Sunday” artists and artisans participating. \nThe un-juried show\, sponsored by the Valley Artists Guild\, is open to any artist or artisan crafter over the age of 18 living in the towns of the Mad River watershed. DESCRIPTION:Mad River Valley Arts and the Valley Artist Guild have teamed up to produce the 34th annual Green Mountain Photo Show at the Red Barn Galleries at Lareau Farm and Forest\, 48 Lareau Road in Waitsfield. Think Outside the Frame is the thematic focus this year\, encouraging photographers to employ experimental photo practices and presentations. \nThe exhibit shows September 8 to October 13\, Thursdays and Fridays from 4:00 to 9:00 and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 9:00. Entry is free to all. The public can meet the photographers at the Opening Reception on September 8th from 5:00-7:00 pm. \nPast years have included works on paper\, metal and glass\, framed and unframed\, using film and digital formats and a wide variety of manipulation in printing. Each exhibitor may display up to three pieces plus a small works piece. More information regarding participating is available at madrivervalleyarts.org under Exhibitions. \nVolunteers and exhibiting photographers are needed to chaperone the show. DESCRIPTION:WILD PINK is a group show about the natural and cultural relationship of the ancient color PINK. There is certainly no dearth of pink in the natural world or in human culture. We accessorize\, cosmeticize\, gender-ize and interiorize to the point of being ‘tickled pink’. In the animal and floral world pink as hue and shade exists multifold. Whether to shock\, protest or code the millennials\, pink has survived the test of time. This show examines the fluid origins of PINK in ‘natural’ and/or ‘cultural’ contexts. This is open media\, interdisciplinary\, multimedia\, installation\, all contemporary crafts and design arts in two/three dimensions for the wall and floor. \nReception & Artist talks: Sept. 26th\, 5-7pm
