DESCRIPTION:Plug-in electric vehicles (EVs) can drastically reduce carbon and other harmful emissions and are a key strategy for achieving Vermont’s greenhouse gas emission reduction requirements. EV adoption is growing rapidly in Vermont\, but purchase prices\, charging infrastructure\, and vehicle availability are challenges to this progress. This session will review the basics of EVs and how Vermont is addressing barriers through outreach\, incentive offers\, charging investments\, and regulations to advance their use.

DESCRIPTION:Alright MRV\, I think we all need to DANCE!\n(It’s good for your mental health**). And I’m going to try to do my bit to make that happen. \nI’m hoping to host at least 1 such pop-up every month this winter with locations TBD on a monthly basis. Excited to announce our next pop-up will be at the Waitsfield Village Meeting House! (1st floor of Waitsfield UCC\, 4355 Main St) \nPre-registration online preferred (through my website)\, or pay at the door:\nPay what you can at multiple price points (from $11)\, trying to make this financially accessible to everyone! \nHere’s what to expect & bring:\nAttire:\n+ comfy shoes for dancing (boots are fun but not required)\n+ layers—not sure what the temp will be like that day\, but it’s always good to have the ability to thermoregulate in the moment! \nLessons:\n+~ 1 hr reviewing/teaching different line dances at multiple entry levels—see tutorial videos on my website to review “Muddy Muddy” and “Wagon Wheel” from October’s pop-up\n+ After lessons I’ll play music and folks will get a chance to practice the dances we learned at different tempos .\n+ Feel free to bring snacks and NON ALCOHOLIC beverages (house rules for the Meeting House). Major General and Mrs. Wait will be present to give historical orations about early life in Waitsfield and greet all of their guests. There will be photo opportunities. Mrs. Wait and her helpers will have cookies and hot chocolate for the children. Further\, the little ones can color ornaments that they can hang on the Wait’s Christmas tree\, bring or write letters to Santa Claus that will be answered by him. This initiative began 3 years ago to provide vital resources\, signage\, and training to empower our community to address harm and create a culture of safety and support. \nAs part of this campaign\, we invite you to join us on Monday\, December 11th\, at Mt. Ellen for a special training session on recognizing and responding to gender-based violence. A Socrates Café is an opportunity for dialogue about timeless and timely questions that all human beings deal with. Rather than being a debate or a discussion\, a Socrates Café is a dialogue where participants are encouraged to listen to and learn from one another. \nThis form of discourse- and its focus on the search for knowledge- comes from the great philosopher Socrates\, who observed that “Wisdom Begins in Wonder.” These gatherings are open to all community members\, regardless of age\, experience\, or background. Harwood students who are experienced in leading Socratic Dialogues will facilitate the discussions. \nCommunity members of all ages are invited\, and refreshments will be provided.
