DESCRIPTION:You will engage in the hands-on process of designing and building a full-scale community project alongside a nonprofit partner or local community member. Class kicks off with a client meeting where students address a structural need. From there\, the  team will work within a budget\, propose and develop a design\, schedule the work\, and ultimately build the structure throughout the duration of this two-week class. \nA flagship Yestermorrow course that has yielded whimsical structures like the infamous Snail bus stop structure\, a mobile farm stand for Shelburne Farms\, and a trail shelter for the Mad River Path and more. Students are given the creative freedom to design a project that meets the unique needs of their client. As a result\, this course often produces unique and whimsical structures – a building style that Yestermorrow is known for. \nThis year\, we will be building a structure for the new Warren Dog Park. Make your mark on the community\, and provide shelter for your neighbors for years to come.

DESCRIPTION:The Warren Public Library August cookbook club will feature recipes from The Vermont Farm Table Cookbook: Homegrown Recipes from the Green Mountain State by Tracey Medeiros. Tracey will be attending the meeting to offer tips and tricks. \nSign up at the library or on the library website and choose a recipe from the cookbook to prepare at home. We’ll meet at the library to enjoy our potluck dinner. A copy of the book is available to browse at the library; it is also available for purchase with local retailers such as The Mad River Taste Place. The Taste Place will donate proceeds from the sale of the book to Vermont Farm Fund which provides no-hassle\, friendly-term loans to Vermont farmers and loan producers.

SUMMARY:Home Design/Build
DESCRIPTION:This course has been offered since 1980 and is the heart of our curriculum. It is appropriate for a range of individuals\, from the person who wants to “do it all” to the person who simply wants to be informed enough to have meaningful and productive conversations with his or her architect and builder. Students will learn through hands-on construction projects\, studio sessions\, lectures\, slide shows\, house tours\, and discussion. The Home Design/Build Course will provide individuals with the fundamental skills and resources necessary for creating their dream home – be it new construction or renovation. This course is also a good introduction for those interested in pursuing an architecture or building career. At the end of this intensive course\, students typically leave with schematic floor plans\, a scale model\, and section and elevation drawings. They have gained a new awareness of design\, materials\, and the process of realizing a home that reflects their values and lifestyle.

Our market vendors are a carefully curated group of local Vermont businesses who provide the highest quality products to market. DESCRIPTION:You will engage in the hands-on process of designing and building a full-scale community project alongside a nonprofit partner or local community member. Class kicks off with a client meeting where students address a structural need. From there\, the  team will work within a budget\, propose and develop a design\, schedule the work\, and ultimately build the structure throughout the duration of this two-week class. \nA flagship Yestermorrow course that has yielded whimsical structures like the infamous Snail bus stop structure\, a mobile farm stand for Shelburne Farms\, and a trail shelter for the Mad River Path and more. Students are given the creative freedom to design a project that meets the unique needs of their client. As a result\, this course often produces unique and whimsical structures – a building style that Yestermorrow is known for. \nThis year\, we will be building a structure for the new Warren Dog Park. Make your mark on the community\, and provide shelter for your neighbors for years to come.

DESCRIPTION:Mark the calendar for the Great Rotary Duck Race on September 3 at the Lareau Swim Hole. \nThe Mad River Valley Rotary Club is bringing the duck race back to The Valley. For the last dozen years\, the club has raised funds for the scholarships and grants it provides to Mad River Valley students and organizations with this event. In total\, over $100\,000 has been provided to the Mad River Valley courtesy of this fund raiser.\nJoin the Mad River Valley Rotary Club on September 3 at the Lareau Swim Hole for the quack of the starting gun as the racers head down the river. The sponsor of the winning duck will receive $1000 with second and third prizes of $500 and $250. \nDuck Race starts promptly at 3pm but bring the family for fun starting at 1pm with music\, food\, kids activities and more. The event will be a quacking good time for all with music and food at the start so don’t duck out\, sponsor a duck and join the fun!
