SUMMARY:VT Kindness Project: Returning Home to Ourselves
DESCRIPTION:Come to the Moretown Library for a free wellness event with trauma educator and local PA Kimberly Pierce\, and view her short film followed by a discussion on the impacts of stress and childhood trauma\, and what we can do to help heal ourselves. Light refreshments provided. RSVP here: https://forms.gle/FYnJg154TGewD1hw5 \nThe Vermont Kindness Project believes that all life is sacred and that our world would be a better place if we all had universal education about the medical science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). This research proves what we already know to be true\, that stress leaves physical\, emotional\, and spiritual wounds in our bodies. Dr. Robert Anda\, the author of the ACE study tells us that “what is predictable is preventable;” yet how do we prevent that which we cannot even speak? The ACEs framework is the language\, and by bearing witness\, we remove shame and empower ourselves and each other. The Vermont Kindness Project believes that the time is now to create a brighter and more loving world\, and that kindness to ourselves\, our fellow humans\, and the earth can and should save the world.

SUMMARY:Bread and Puppet Museum Opening and The Whole Kit and Caboodle Show
DESCRIPTION:Bread & Puppet will host our traditional Museum Open House Sunday\, June 2nd at 2 p.m. As always\, this celebratory afternoon of performances\, bread\, and museum appreciation will mark the beginning of a bustling summer season at the Bread & Puppet farm. \nThe Open House will begin at the entrance of our Museum\, where local singers will gather to sing songs in the “Shape Note” tradition\, an early American sacred singing tradition with deep roots in Vermont\, in four-part harmony. Next\, the Museum will receive its ceremonial opening for the season: the museum guard will be woken up and reinstalled at his post for the summer. The public will be invited to peruse the museum.\nIn keeping with tradition\, the middle of the afternoon will feature performances by B&P friends and guests with original music and short puppet shows at locations around the B&P farm. \nThe afternoon will conclude with The Whole Kit and Caboodle Show! \n“We the Whole Kit & Caboodle bread bakers\, peace and harmony terrorists\, and criminal trespassers of the fascist empire offer anti-hospital bombing calisthenics in the face of the Freedom and Democracy Bullshitters\, and precise funeral rites for the collapsing Western Civilization and make our divine papermaché weaponry as retrieved from the cardboard industry’s available refuse to defeat the capitalist hegemony and celebrate a brand-new humanity with appropriate victory dances and demonstrate our birthright as children of the one and only Mother Dirt who makes us and unmakes us and now requires our full undivided attention.” -Peter Schumann \nAfter the show Bread & Puppet will serve its famous sourdough rye bread with aioli\, and Bread & Puppet’s “Cheap Art” – books\, posters\, postcards\, pamphlets and banners from the Bread & Puppet Press – will be for sale. \nTickets for the Summer 2024 shows are $10 each. Admission by donation for kids 6 and under. We ask that you purchase a ticket ahead of time if you’re able. However\, it’s central to our philosophy for our shows to be accessible and no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Please check our website to purchase tickets https://breadandpuppet.org/ \nDogs are discouraged\, though well behaved dogs on leash are allowed. If you bring your dog\, PLEASE SIT IN THE BACK of the audience\, AT THE TOP OF THE THEATER as far away as possible from the brass band and bring plenty of water (there is none onsite). \nWe look forward to seeing you this summer!

SUMMARY:Bread and Puppet presents The Whole Kit and Caboodle Show every Sunday in June at 3PM
DESCRIPTION:Bread & Puppet kicks off its 2024 Summer Season with a new performance\, The Whole Kit and Caboodle Show\, created by Peter Schumann and company along with a cohort of spring apprentices. The Whole Kit and Caboodle Show runs Sundays June 9th-July 7th at 3 p.m. in the Papier Maché Cathedral at the Bread and Puppet farm\, 753 Heights Rd\, Glover\, VT. \nAbout this show Peter Schumann says\, “We\, the Whole Kit & Caboodle bread bakers\, peace and harmony terrorists and criminal trespassers of the fascist empire offer anti-hospital-bombing calisthenics in the face of the Freedom and Democracy Bullshitters\, and precise funeral rites for the collapsing Western Civilization and make our divine paper maché weaponry\, as retrieved from the cardboard industry’s available refuse to defeat the capitalist hegemony and celebrate a brand-new humanity with appropriate victory dances and demonstrate our birthright as children of the one and only Mother Dirt\, who makes us and unmakes us and now requires our full undivided attention.” \nBread and Puppet’s Cheap Art – books\, posters\, postcards\, pamphlets and banners from the Bread and Puppet Press – will be for sale in the Bread & Puppet Museum Store throughout the event. \nTickets for this and other summer shows are $10 each. We ask that you purchase tickets ahead of time. However\, it’s central to our philosophy that our performances are as accessible as possible and no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Admission by cash donation for kids 6 and under. You can purchase tickets on our website at https://breadandpuppet.org/book-tickets-for-upcoming-shows \nThe Whole Kit and Caboodle Show plays Sunday afternoons June 9th through July 7th at 3 p.m.. The Principle of Hope Circus plays at 3 p.m. (sideshows at 2 p.m.) every Saturday and Sunday July 13th through August 31st. All shows at the Bread & Puppet Farm\, 753 Heights Rd/Rt. 122 in Glover\, VT. \nPhoto credit: May Hathaway
