DESCRIPTION:We are sorry to report that the 2025 LEAP Energy Fair that was to be held on Sat. April 5 has been cancelled.\n\nOur usual venue\, the Crossett Brook Middle School\, was flooded recently\, and the gym where the fair takes place will not be available in time for the event. At this late date\, our LEAP volunteers have not been able to find a replacement venue that meets our needs\, our schedule\, or the schedule of our exhibitors and speakers. If you or someone you know planned to attend the fair please let them know it is cancelled and update your calendars.\n\nWe hope to host a workshop event this Spring\, will plan to hold our usual EV fest this summer and look forward to next year’s Energy Fair. The Songbird Project will add some musical flair to the event with a few songs about the sun and the moon. \nIf you have a piece of artwork you would like to share\, please bring it to the Joslin Memorial Library by Wednesday afternoon\, April 9th so we can display it on Friday evening;. Submissions will be accepted until April 30. \nWhat are Haiku\, again?\nHaiku are a form of poetry originating in Japan. Each haiku contains seventeen syllables divided into three lines. The first and last line each contain five syllables while the second line contains seven syllables. Here’s a bear-themed haiku by Megan Sharkey of Alaska: \nGarbage on the porch\nis the best way to get a\nbear on short notice \nWe welcome submissions by children\, teens\, and adults. SUMMARY:Mad River Triathlon
DESCRIPTION:Since 1979: America’s only four-sport triathlon! \nThe Mad River Triathlon is a four-adventure sports fundraising event set in Central Vermont’s picturesque Mad River Valley. The race consists of a 6-mile run\, paddle down the Mad River\, 10-mile bike\, and finally skiing up and down Mount Ellen. Participate as an individual\, as a team\, or just for certain legs. \nThis is an intentionally sustainable and low-waste event. You can expect reusable cups\, composting toilets\, and minimal disruption to natural spaces. Preserving the unique beauty of the Mad River Valley and the ways we enjoy it is the ultimate goal of this collaborative event. \nWe are making every effort to create an inclusive event by allowing a wide range of equipment\, offering group raft rides down the river\, allowing you to choose the legs you wish to participate in\, and a broad range of categories and accommodations for adaptive athletes.
