SUMMARY:Mad River Valley Backcountry Coalition Dawn Patrol
DESCRIPTION:Skiers and riders will meet at either Sugarbush or Mad River Glen in the wee hours of the morning to rise and rip! Exact time and location will be TBD each week based on conditions. The event leader will communicate the details each week via email/text to all who opt in to the group. Feel free to email info@mrvbc.org for more info. Uphill passes required at Sugarbush. All participants must read and adhere to the uphill policies: Sugarbush and Mad River Glen. All participants will be required to complete a waiver through MRVBC for each Thursday. Bring coffee/tea\, snacks\, and layers. See our Difficulty Rating System (https://www.mrvbc.org/events/tours) to determine if MRVBC’s tours are the right fit for you. This will be an intermediate uphill pace\, not a race! The downhill could be advanced terrain depending on conditions and route. DESCRIPTION:If you enjoy working in the woods and have some time to spare\, please join the Valley’s CTA Trail Chiefs in the their annual effort to clear the Catamount Trail of blow-downs\, branches\, and brush. \nThe Mad River Valley is extremely fortunate to have access to one of the most incredible backcountry recreation opportunities in Vermont – the Phen Basin. As a chapter of the Catamount Trail Association\, MRVBC has committed to the care and management of access to this resource by adopting section 19S from the Battleground condominiums north to the Long Trail in Huntington Gap. This commitment includes organizing an annual Fall Trail Work day where volunteers have an opportunity to help ensure continued access by working to maintain the trail and its features. \nWith several bridges\, a consistent slope\, unique natural features\, and beautiful views\, this section provides excellent access for non-motorized wintertime use. Come explore the trail while helping to keep it in good shape. Last year was all about blowdown management (loppers\, handsaws\, and chainsaw work)\, water bar clearing (basic rake and dirt work)\, and replacing the deck on a bridge (simple carpentry). In addition to the work\, the team shared a lot of laughs\, good stories\, and some pre-skiing stoke with parking-lot libations. This year work will focus on simple sight line clearing\, blazing\, and lopper work higher up the trail. SUMMARY:GRITUS 50/70 MILE GRAVEL BIKE RACES
DESCRIPTION:The race will start and finish at Mad River Glen Ski Resort. The course contains 70% dirt roads. Gritus features some tame double track sections that will feel adventurous and a couple of hefty climbs. The short course is 50 miles with 7\,000 feet of climbing and the long course is 75 miles with 10\,000 feet of climbing. There are some adventurous roads. Cyclists are responsible for navigating the course. There will be two water stops on the course. Entrants will receive Endurance Society swag and finishers will receive a pint glass. A unique award will be presented for the top 3 males and females.
