SUMMARY:Mad River Tubing Shuttle
DESCRIPTION:Come spend the day on a leisurely float down the Mad River. Umiak Outdoor Outfitters is providing this tour as an option in place of our usual tours\, which are presently recuperating from the recent floods in Vermont. Each day from Thursday through Monday we run three tours at 10 am\, 12 pm\, and 2 pm. Based on water levels and the time of the season we average this tour taking between 2-3 hours. Guests will meet us at our takeout in Waitsfield. From there we will shuttle you upriver and drop you off at our put-in. Your shuttle driver will go over some river safety and explain the takeout point in detail. From there the rest is up to you! Enjoy the scenic float on the Mad River! Float duration is dependent on water levels. \nReservations are Required

DESCRIPTION:This course has been offered since 1980 and is the heart of our curriculum. It is appropriate for a range of individuals\, from the person who wants to “do it all” to the person who simply wants to be informed enough to have meaningful and productive conversations with his or her architect and builder. Students will learn through hands-on construction projects\, studio sessions\, lectures\, slide shows\, house tours\, and discussion. The Home Design/Build Course will provide individuals with the fundamental skills and resources necessary for creating their dream home – be it new construction or renovation. This course is also a good introduction for those interested in pursuing an architecture or building career. At the end of this intensive course\, students typically leave with schematic floor plans\, a scale model\, and section and elevation drawings. They have gained a new awareness of design\, materials\, and the process of realizing a home that reflects their values and lifestyle.

DESCRIPTION:You will engage in the hands-on process of designing and building a full-scale community project alongside a nonprofit partner or local community member. Class kicks off with a client meeting where students address a structural need. From there\, the  team will work within a budget\, propose and develop a design\, schedule the work\, and ultimately build the structure throughout the duration of this two-week class. \nA flagship Yestermorrow course that has yielded whimsical structures like the infamous Snail bus stop structure\, a mobile farm stand for Shelburne Farms\, and a trail shelter for the Mad River Path and more. Students are given the creative freedom to design a project that meets the unique needs of their client. As a result\, this course often produces unique and whimsical structures – a building style that Yestermorrow is known for. \nThis year\, we will be building a structure for the new Warren Dog Park. Make your mark on the community\, and provide shelter for your neighbors for years to come.

SUMMARY:Mad River Tubing Shuttle
DESCRIPTION:Come spend the day on a leisurely float down the Mad River. Umiak Outdoor Outfitters is providing this tour as an option in place of our usual tours\, which are presently recuperating from the recent floods in Vermont. Each day from Thursday through Monday we run three tours at 10 am\, 12 pm\, and 2 pm. Based on water levels and the time of the season we average this tour taking between 2-3 hours. Guests will meet us at our takeout in Waitsfield. From there we will shuttle you upriver and drop you off at our put-in. Your shuttle driver will go over some river safety and explain the takeout point in detail. From there the rest is up to you! Enjoy the scenic float on the Mad River! Float duration is dependent on water levels. \nReservations are Required

DESCRIPTION:This course has been offered since 1980 and is the heart of our curriculum. It is appropriate for a range of individuals\, from the person who wants to “do it all” to the person who simply wants to be informed enough to have meaningful and productive conversations with his or her architect and builder. Students will learn through hands-on construction projects\, studio sessions\, lectures\, slide shows\, house tours\, and discussion. The Home Design/Build Course will provide individuals with the fundamental skills and resources necessary for creating their dream home – be it new construction or renovation. This course is also a good introduction for those interested in pursuing an architecture or building career. At the end of this intensive course\, students typically leave with schematic floor plans\, a scale model\, and section and elevation drawings. They have gained a new awareness of design\, materials\, and the process of realizing a home that reflects their values and lifestyle.

DESCRIPTION:You will engage in the hands-on process of designing and building a full-scale community project alongside a nonprofit partner or local community member. Class kicks off with a client meeting where students address a structural need. From there\, the  team will work within a budget\, propose and develop a design\, schedule the work\, and ultimately build the structure throughout the duration of this two-week class. \nA flagship Yestermorrow course that has yielded whimsical structures like the infamous Snail bus stop structure\, a mobile farm stand for Shelburne Farms\, and a trail shelter for the Mad River Path and more. Students are given the creative freedom to design a project that meets the unique needs of their client. As a result\, this course often produces unique and whimsical structures – a building style that Yestermorrow is known for. \nThis year\, we will be building a structure for the new Warren Dog Park. Make your mark on the community\, and provide shelter for your neighbors for years to come.

DESCRIPTION:Mark the calendar for the Great Rotary Duck Race on September 3 at the Lareau Swim Hole. \nThe Mad River Valley Rotary Club is bringing the duck race back to The Valley. For the last dozen years\, the club has raised funds for the scholarships and grants it provides to Mad River Valley students and organizations with this event. In total\, over $100\,000 has been provided to the Mad River Valley courtesy of this fund raiser.\nJoin the Mad River Valley Rotary Club on September 3 at the Lareau Swim Hole for the quack of the starting gun as the racers head down the river. The sponsor of the winning duck will receive $1000 with second and third prizes of $500 and $250. \nDuck Race starts promptly at 3pm but bring the family for fun starting at 1pm with music\, food\, kids activities and more. From there\, the  team will work within a budget\, propose and develop a design\, schedule the work\, and ultimately build the structure throughout the duration of this two-week class. \nA flagship Yestermorrow course that has yielded whimsical structures like the infamous Snail bus stop structure\, a mobile farm stand for Shelburne Farms\, and a trail shelter for the Mad River Path and more. Students are given the creative freedom to design a project that meets the unique needs of their client. As a result\, this course often produces unique and whimsical structures – a building style that Yestermorrow is known for. \nThis year\, we will be building a structure for the new Warren Dog Park. Make your mark on the community\, and provide shelter for your neighbors for years to come.

There will be an artist talk on August 3rd at 5:30pm. \nMRVArts has invited over a dozen creators of varying ages to share this hybrid art form of pictorial narrative from their own point of view and visual language. Feelings\, ideas and personal myth unfold in dramatic sequencing or single captions of imagery with text. Each of their pictorial approaches of character\, action\, symbol and commentary create story for the purposes of human connection\, reflection and social understanding.
