SUMMARY:Make Your Own Ceramic Luminary
DESCRIPTION:Each month we are offering a hand building workshop where participants will make a specific project. This month we will be making luminaries constructed from slabs of clay. Unlike wheel thrown pottery\, slab building is easy to get the hang of. With no prior experience anyone can make a beautiful\, functional piece of pottery\, which can be personalized with texture and pattern. We will fire and glaze your pieces for you\, having them ready for pick up in approximately 3 weeks.

SUMMARY:Bette Ann Libby exhibit at ART\, etc.
DESCRIPTION:AUGUST & SEPTEMBER ARTIST EXHIBITION \nART\, etc. presents their August & September exhibits featuring the work of abstract artist Linda Blackerby and mosaic artist Bette Ann Libby. This show features the creative\, natural and whimsical side of each artist. This exhibit will be on view until October 1\, 2023. \nSince 1972\, Bette Ann Libby has worked in ceramics\, ceramic shard mosaics\, mixed media sculpture and painting.\nCombining disparate elements into new forms of harmony\, these narrative mosaics explore well-being\, womanhood\, and passages\, using irony\, humor\, and metaphor to create the unexpected. The works incorporate handmade ceramic shards\, found objects and hand blown glass. In addition to her mosaics\, Libby’s banner paintings use up-cycled materials and returned house paints and are also featured in this exhibit. \nBette Ann is passionate about connecting community and art: for the past three years she has organized the Banners on Bridge Street\, painted by numerous local artists\, which hang from June through early October in Waitsfield. \nPainter Linda Blackerby presents a collection of vibrant and exciting abstracts that express her love of color. Blackerby creates energetic and colorful paintings with acrylics and mixed media\, influenced by her passions for travel and interior design. \nHer ‘long way round’ journey to abstract painting has informed her art in ways that she could never have achieved. Linda believes the spaces we occupy may be more important to us as safe havens and places to express ourselves more than ever before. Blackerby’s passion is to help art lovers use original work as a meaningful way to express their unique personality through their individual home décor and style. \nThe public is invited to an Opening Reception Friday\, August 4\, 5-7pm. Meet the artists\, enjoy refreshments\, and music by The Bliss Brothers. Come to Randolph for the evening and enjoy our First Friday’s and a local Art Walk. \nART\, etc. is an artisan craft store with two dedicated gallery spaces. Accented by an exciting array of pottery\, woodwork\, jewelry\, iron work\, candles and an assortment of artwork from Vermont artisans\, ART\, etc. is truly a celebration of Vermont’s beauty and artistic talents. \nART\, etc. is located at 26 North Main Street\, Randolph VT\, in a restored 1880s building. For more information please email artetcvt@gmail.com\, visit www.artetcvt.com\, or FB/IG @artetcvt. Store hours Wednesday-Saturday 10-5pm\, Sunday 11-2pm.

SUMMARY:The Mad Contemporary
DESCRIPTION:Mad River Valley Arts in Waitsfield\, VT is excited to present ‘The Mad Contemporary’ a cartoon and comics exhibition this August 2- September 14. \nThe opening reception is on August 3\, from 5-7pm. There will be an artist talk on August 3rd at 5:30pm. \nMRVArts has invited over a dozen creators of varying ages to share this hybrid art form of pictorial narrative from their own point of view and visual language. Feelings\, ideas and personal myth unfold in dramatic sequencing or single captions of imagery with text. Each of their pictorial approaches of character\, action\, symbol and commentary create story for the purposes of human connection\, reflection and social understanding. Come join us and see how this powerful medium of communication draws upon contemporary life today. \nThe gallery is free to all and open Tuesday- Saturday from 1-5 pm.
