In alignment with our commitment to fostering a safe and welcoming community\, the Mad River Valley Chamber of Commerce is proud to continue our Stand Up For Safety campaign. This initiative began 3 years ago to provide vital resources\, signage\, and training to empower our community to address harm and create a culture of safety and support. \nAs part of this campaign\, we invite you to join us on Monday\, December 11th\, at Mt. Ellen for a special training session on recognizing and responding to gender-based violence. The training\, taking place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.\, will be led by international speaker Anna Nasset\, owner of Stand Up Resources. Anna will provide critical education and tools to enhance awareness and equip attendees to take actionable steps in preventing and addressing gender-based violence. Please RSVP if you plan on attending by emailing info@madrivervalley.com  \nThis training is open to all Chamber members and their staff. We encourage businesses to bring their teams to learn how they can contribute to the safety and well-being of our community and our guests. DESCRIPTION:Larissa Ursprung (Farmsprung Gatherings LLC) is offering more LINE DANCING lessons by popular demand! Pop-ups at different venues throughout the Mad River Valley–times and locations TBD on a monthly basis throughout the winter.\nCome for some low-stakes social dancing you can do solo. All are welcome! \nAdmission: Pay what you wish at the door via Venmo (preferred)\, credit card\, or cash \nDancing:\n+ 6:30 to 8PM: reviewing/teaching several line dances at multiple entry levels–see event page for more details & video tutorials that review dances from previous pop-ups\n+ 8 to 9 PM: open dancing! Stay tuned to our website and social media channels for the most up-to-the-minute information surrounding opening day. \nDecember 11\, 1948 Mad River Glen opened to the public for the first time\, whisking skiers 2000 vertical feet to the summit of Stark Mountain on the Single. The American Steel & Wire Company had installed nearly 600 of these state-of-the-art aerial tramway systems across the country and together with Roland Palmedo brought lift-served skiing to the Mad River Valley.

DESCRIPTION:Famed & beloved Yankee storyteller Willem Lange is back once again – Live and On Stage (and livestreamed) at Lost Nation Theater performing his reading of “A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story” by Charles Dickens. Lange uses the cutting of the novel Dickens himself used when performing the tale.\nEmmy-winner Lange’s tradition of reading Dickens’ Christmas Carol began in 1975. He always performs to benefit “The Haven” in the Upper Valley. In addition to Lange donating his fee to The Haven\, LNT will donate a percentage of its proceeds to Just Basics Food Pantry and Good Samaritan. DESCRIPTION:Sammy Blanchette\, aka Sammy B\, is a New England based singer/songwriter multi-instrumentalist who’s career spans nearly two decades. His performance career began primarily out of Southern Connecticut and has since found a primary home in Southern Vermont in the Okemo Valley as of 2018. Like most start up musicians\, Sammy began playing out in bars and nightclubs at age 13 as well as sitting in with multiple Southern CT bands\, including Hubinger St. which he became the full time bass player from 2010 to 2018. His style of work on electric and acoustic guitar ranges from a broad mix of rock\, jazz\, reggae\, blues and jam band styles.
