SUMMARY:Chicky Stoltz Vinyl Release Party
DESCRIPTION:5:00pm to 8:00pm come to the taproom for the vinyl release of Chicky Stoltz’s Polecat. Featuring a live show from Chicky Stoltz and the Charlie Nobles from 5:00 to 7:00 and then a start to end listen of the full-length album starting at 7:00. \nChicky Stoltz is a reflective mountain man. High in the Green Mountains of Vermont\, he would prefer to think of himself now as more storyteller than a musician. He holds the music in the highest regard. \nTo be fair\, he has spent nearly four decades out there as a musician. Singer\, drummer\, guitarist\, one-man band. Bars and halls\, good and bad. Shared the stage with and opened for many of the best (Patti Smith\, Paw\, Duke Robillard\, etc.) but now prefers the company of himself to make music happen. \nSome have mentioned Tom Waits\, Bruce Springsteen\, and Jonathan Richman when listening to his music. Chicky was most honored when someone referenced filmmaker David Lynch when referring to his music. Thrilling for sure. \nThe music explores many fictional stories of fraud\, land development/environmentalism\, technology\, and death. Somehow done with tongue squarely in cheek. \nChicky’s fifth album\, Polecat\, is a full length studio retrospective covering material from his first four home studio albums. Made with great friends from 2022 to 2024; it is a lifetime goal achieved and available in all the places.

SUMMARY:Kandahar Mountain Race
DESCRIPTION:A race of a bygone era\, the Kandahar channels the spirit of full mountain races that were once commonplace on the racing circuit and at MRG. The last version held in the 1980s began on Creamery\, descended onto Moody’s\, before taking on (Grand) Canyon. At the bottom of Canyon\, racers went straight across Easy Way\, over the cliff on One Way\, and over S-Turn Cliff onto Lower Periwinkle and finished by the base of the Double. Whew! Our modern version is a bit more modest but will still reward those who can ski gates as well as terrain on the trail. The trail combination and exact set to get from the start to the finish are dependent on snow depth and conditions. Please see the race flyer (when available) for additional course details. \nDetails: \nRegistration: Visit the online store \nField Limit: 75 racers \nAge requirement: 10 years old or older as of January 1st\, 2025 \nAthlete Lift: Tentatively 7:30 am \nRace Begins: Tentatively 8:00 am \nAwards: by age group and gender \nDisclaimer: Weather and conditions dependent\, no refunds on entry fee in the event of cancellation. We reserve the right to change or modify any of the perimeters of the race including but not limited to start time\, location\, course\, finish and awards in the interest of event security. \n2024 Kandahar Overall Results \n2024 Kandahar Women’s Results \n2024 Kandahar Men’s Results \nProceeds from this event go to benefit the Mad River Glen Race Club and are non-refundable. \nThe MRG Racing Triple Crown combines three celebrated legacy events and crowns an overall category champions! \n\n\n\nThe storied Kandahar is MRG’s modern version of a full mountain ski race. It rewards those who can ski gates as well as terrain and conditions on the trail.\nThe Dash For Cash is a new event that will pit racers head to head on a dual panel course with pro jump.\nThe Rockefeller Challenge is a test of fearlessness and speed where competitors tuck straight downhill and glide uphill to find the skier who goes the furthest.\n\n\n\nCombine and register for all three events and save! \nA valid lift ticket or season pass is required. Lift ticket not included in the entry fee. \nAges 10 & up as of 1/1/25. You must complete a registration for each family member who will be racing. Please log in below (if you are already in MRG’s system) or create a new account for each racer. \nDisclaimer: Weather and conditions dependent. There are no refunds on the entry fee for any reason\, including in the event of date change\, cancellation\, or inability to participate. We reserve the right to change or modify any of the perimeters of the race including but not limited to start time\, date\, location\, course\, finish and awards in the interest of event security.

SUMMARY:Abstract^2
DESCRIPTION:Mad River Valley Arts (Mad Arts) presents Lisa Dimondstein\, Julie Parker and Sandra Shenk in Abstract^2. \nThese three women photographers are dedicated to radicalizing the photo as image. \nThey abstract from a pre-existing abstract sculpture with the aim to capture the essential properties and relationships of the original abstract concept\, and in doing so they remove themselves from any context or specific content or representation. The process involves eliminating any reference to real-world objects or situations and to focus only on the inherent structures and relationships. \nThe Cold Hollow Sculpture Park\, in Enosburg Falls\, has over 70 large abstract sculptures by renowned artist David Stromeyer. The photographs of Lisa\, Julie and Sandra\nare inventive abstractions from David’s sculpture. They utilize an in-camera multiple exposure technique to explore the intricate relationship between color\, texture\, movement\, line and form.
