SUMMARY:A 75 Year Fellowship of Skiing
DESCRIPTION:Rick Moulton Productions and Stark Mountain Foundation present the film\, Mad River Glen\, A 75-Year Fellowship of Skiers at the Savoy Theater in Montpelier\, VT on Sunday\, April 7th at 6:00 pm.  \nThis new short documentary celebrates the 75th season of the Mad River Glen Cooperative ski area in Fayston\, Vermont. In 1988\, filmmaker Rick Moulton released his first short film about the ski area\, “Spirit of a Classic.” His new film focuses on the most recent 35 years of Mad River Glen’s history using new interviews and archival footage and taking a deeper look at what makes the ski area such a unique place.  \nMad River Glen was founded in 1949 by Roland Palmedo and then sold by Betsy Pratt in 1995 to a group of cooperative skiers who intended to keep the ski area away from corporate investors. Her forward-thinking decision has kept Mad River Glen’s ownership in the hands of the people who love it. The cooperative\, with the support of Stark Mountain Foundation\, has preserved the rustic\, laid-back character\, low skier density\, natural terrain\, and friendly atmosphere that gives the ski area its charm.  \nThis 85-minute showing at the Savoy Theater in Montpelier will include a short film by Stark Mountain Foundation (the sponsor) and the 1988 film Spirit of a Classic. Burlington filmmaker Rick Moulton will introduce and be available to answer audience questions after the three short films.  \nTickets are $10 for adults\, $7 for seniors\, students\, members\, and veterans\, and children 12 and under are free.

Depending on where you are located\, you may experience a partial or total solar eclipse. Experiencing a solar eclipse can be a once-in-a-lifetime event\, and many people travel to specific locations to witness them. In 2024\,  Vermont’s Mad River Valley will be in the path of totality for the solar eclipse. Meaning\, we will have a front row seat to the action! On April 8th\, 2024 all of Northern Vermont will experience a total eclipse of the sun\, make sure you are in the path of totality for the full experience! \nIf you are interested in viewing a solar eclipse\, it is important to take appropriate precautions to protect your eyes\, such as using special solar viewing glasses or watching the eclipse through a pinhole projector. It is also important to plan ahead and make sure you have a place to stay and a clear view of the sky!

SUMMARY:Total Eclipse For the Art
DESCRIPTION:An OPEN BARN event to support artists participating in a residency this summer \nDon’t miss seeing the upcoming full-occlusion solar eclipse! The Mad River Valley will be in the perfect path for viewing this celestial event\, and Stowell Barn is surrounded by a beautiful unobstructed vista that can’t be beat. Eclipse photographers looking for where to set up? Look no further! \nCome check out our recently-restored historic space and enjoy some light snacks\, good company\, games\, a celestially-themed playlist\, and a collaborative dance composition demo following the eclipse (no dance experience needed to participate). All are welcome! \nThis event is open to the public\, and will be ‘contribute what you can’ at the door/online. All contributions* will directly support dancers and choreographers participating in the CHIMERA Art Co-Lab hosted by Farmsprung Gatherings in July\, 2024. \nWe are opening the barn doors early this year for this special event: keep in mind that this is Vermont in early April\, and the barn is technically 3 season so it may be CHILLY! We have a patio heater for hand warming and are planning for some warm beverages\, but check the weather and dress accordingly. \nLimited parking on site on the grass\, with additional public parking at Common Road. \nRemember you shouldn’t look directly at the eclipse—bring protective eye-wear! We will have limited eclipse shades available. \n*Please note that financial contributions—although directly benefiting artists—are not tax deductible. \nA note re: accessibility–if you have specific needs please alert us ahead of time and we will do everything we can to accommodate you! We have portable ramps to make our barn space and dance floor accessible\, but the space is surrounded by grass which can be challenging for wheelchairs.

SUMMARY:Total Solar Eclipse
DESCRIPTION:Vermont will be experiencing a solar eclipse on April 8\, 2024 and Mad River Glen is in the path of totality. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun\, thereby obscuring the view of the Sun from a small part of the Earth\, either totally or partially. A total eclipse\, is when the Sun gets completely obscured by the Moon. During a total eclipse\, the sky suddenly darkens and the Sun’s corona will be revealed. This is easily the most beautiful sight you will ever see in the sky! Be sure to use solar eclipse glasses while the Sun is not fully eclipsed. This solar eclipse has a southern terminus of (about) Barre\, but even those south of Barre will be looking at about 95% blackout. \nMad River Glen Solar Eclipse FAQ: \nLive music: will be provided by Bigfoot County who will play a set from 2:30 – 3:30 then take a break and come back for a second set between 4:30 – 5:30. \nIn the path of totality: Yes \nPercentage of totality: 100% \nDuration: 2h 23m 04.5s \nDuration of totality: 01:56.6s \nLifts: The Single and Sunnyside Double will run from 10-5pm. Shareholders will be able to walk up to window to purchase 2 tickets on Monday. SUMMARY:Mad River Valley Women in Business
DESCRIPTION:The next meeting of the MRV Women in Business group will meet on Tuesday April 9 a the Mad River Exchange (formerly Alpino Vino). The meeting will start at 5:30 pm. Please RSVP if you plan to attend. \nThe meeting will star off with 30 minutes to mingle followed by our speaker program. This month’s speaker will be Deniz Šehović\, the Founder of GirlsGuide.Co\, a personal/professional development platform for women focused on Money & Manifestation. With over a decade of marketing experience working with international\, national & local brands – she now teaches purpose-driven women to become wildly successful & deeply aligned with abundance as a multi-six-figure business coach in Burlington\, VT. \n\n\nThe MRV Women in Business group meets every other month throughout the year\, generally on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings. Speakers are often invited to present at the meetings. \nThe Mad River Valley Women in Business group is a network of women business leaders in our community who have come together to unite\, support\, connect and grow. The group began in 2021 as we were in the midst of big changes within our local economy. There was a surge of new  businesses starting\, an influx of people moving into the community exacerbating an already difficult housing market\, existing establishments  were turning over and chamber membership  was growing.  Much of this change is being driven by women in our community.  There is a strong desire  within the MRV Chamber ‘s leadership to develop and support a vehicle for women to work together to support one another\, access information and resources\, achieve business goals and promote the greater good in the MRV. \n\n\n\n\nPlease RSVP if you plan to attend.

DESCRIPTION:Skiers and riders will meet at either Sugarbush or Mad River Glen in the wee hours of the morning to rise and rip! Exact time and location will be TBD each week based on conditions. The event leader will communicate the details each week via email/text to all who opt in to the group. Feel free to email info@mrvbc.org for more info. Uphill passes required at Sugarbush. All participants must read and adhere to the uphill policies: Sugarbush and Mad River Glen. All participants will be required to complete a waiver through MRVBC for each Thursday. Bring coffee/tea\, snacks\, and layers. See our Difficulty Rating System (https://www.mrvbc.org/events/tours) to determine if MRVBC’s tours are the right fit for you. This will be an intermediate uphill pace\, not a race! The downhill could be advanced terrain depending on conditions and route. Come prepared with knowledge of your own gear as this is not instruction\, but it is a great way to meet people\, get some amazing exercise and fresh air views\, and swap BC stories!\nSign up using the form linked on our website.
