DESCRIPTION:Skiers and riders will meet at either Sugarbush or Mad River Glen in the wee hours of the morning to rise and rip! Exact time and location will be TBD each week based on conditions. All participants must read and adhere to the uphill policies: Sugarbush and Mad River Glen. All participants will be required to complete a waiver through MRVBC for each Thursday. SUMMARY:Scrag Mountain Music\, Spiritual Sounding: Sacred Trees
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, April 26 5-6 pm\nMad River Valley Arts\, 5031 Main St\, Waitsfield \nJoin Evan Premo (multi-instrumentalist/composer and Scrag Mountain Music co-Artistic Director) and Mikahely (Burlington-based singer-songwriter instrumentalist originally from Madagascar) as they improvise on instruments made of trees. Evan and Mikahely will musically explore what trees can teach us about who we are as spiritual beings\, and Mikahely will speak about the importance of trees in Madagasy spiritual practice. Evan’s Spiritual Soundings feature improvised loop-based ambient music presented with an intentional theme. The community is invited to participate using any spiritual modality — meditation\, prayer\, deep listening\, movement etc — while holding the intention of the session’s theme. The hope is that this music and these gatherings will facilitate deep meditative experience which connects audiences to one another and all consciousness. \nSpace is limited and there are a limited number of chairs available. Attendees are encouraged to reserve tickets in advance and are invited to bring a cushion or mat to sit on. \nThis program is presented in conjunction with Mad River Valley Arts’s exhibition RISE: Trees\, Our Botanical Giants running through April 26. DESCRIPTION:For the second consecutive year the Mad River Valley towns Green Up Committees are collaborating to make the most of the effort. They are coordinating their efforts under the banner of the Mad River Valley Green Valley Rally. \nVermont’s annual Green Up Day takes place on Saturday\,May 4\, 2024 with the Green Valley Rally being the epicenter for all activities here in the MRV. It will take place at the Mad River Valley Chamber of Commerce Welcome Center (at the corner of Routes 100 and 17) from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. People can stop by to pick up Green Up bags\, morning snacks\, and roadside assignments. People will also have the chance to learn more about volunteer opportunities with the Friends of the Mad River\, stewardMRV\, and Valley knotweed eradication programs. \nEvent Timeline \n\n8 – 10 am             Bag Pick-up & Breakfast Treats\n8 am -2 pm         Can and Bottle Drop Off (see deets below)\nNoon to 2 pm    MRV Steward Organizations Volunteer Job Fair|\nNoon to 2 pm     BBQ for Green Up Day Volunteers\nBag Drop Offs     Bring Your Green Bags to Earthwise Santiation’s Waitsfield Transfer Station. They are open on the Saturday of Green Up Day from 8 am to 2 pm\n\nGUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT\nVermont’s Green Up Day coordinators are working to set a world record for The Most Pledges Received to Clean in 24 Hours ” We need to sign up 5\,000 Vermonters to set the record VT Top to Bottom Green Up  – From Canada to Massachusetts – Green Up Vermont is organizing the longest litter pick up team ever.”\n• 223 miles from North Troy to Stamford – 446 if we go North & South\n• Volunteers start at every mile mark\n• Route complete in about one hour \nGREEN UP DAY BOTTLE DRIVE\nOrganizers are asking all Green Up Day volunteers to separate clean(ish) refundable cans found along the roadsides this year. They will provide separate clear bags for these cans and ask that people bring the bags back to the Welcome Center. They can also bring refundable cans and bottles back to the tent. Organizers will redeem the cans and donate all funds to the Mad River Valley Interfaith Council\, which serves neighbors in need. \nVOLUNTEER JOB FAIR\nStarting at noon and running through 2 p.m. there will be a BBQ for Green Up Day and stewardMRV volunteers. During that time there will also be a stewardMRV volunteer job fair. People can learn more about other conservation and stewardship opportunities. Representatives from various local organizations involved in stewardship in The Valley will be on hand to share information about volunteer opportunities. Those interested can look into becoming a stewardMRV site steward\, a Friends of the Mad River Watch volunteer\, a Mad River Path volunteer or even help out with the Mad River Valley Recreation District. \nWasted Portalet Demo\nCheck out the new Wasted portalets that will be used at stewardMRV sites around the MRV this year. There will also be a sample of the Wasted Off-Grid toilets we will be testing out this season. \nTIRE RECYCLING\nThe Mad River Resource Management Alliance (MRRMA) is collecting tires at the Earthwise Transfer Station on Green Up Day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those who find a tire along a roadside can bring it to the transfer station for recycling free of charge. To recycle personal tires\, the MRRMA will process those (with or without rims) for $5 each. \nVOLUNTEER BBQ\nThere will be a BBQ for all Green Up day volunteers to come celebrate our collective efforts. DESCRIPTION:Formed after a serendipitous jam session at a Vermont bluegrass festival\, Bloodroot Gap is a musical collaboration between brothers Rob and Jim McCuen (Swing Noire)\, Freeman Corey (Catamount Crossing\, Big Spike Bluegrass) and Jake Munson. \nCorey\, a fiddle player who grew up on a dairy farm in Benson\, is the son of a fine\, old-time fiddler. He started playing at age 10\, learning hundreds of Irish\, Scottish and French-Canadian fiddle tunes from his father. Corey has become one of Vermont’s most sought-after traditional fiddlers\, gracing the stage with Bob Amos and Catamount Crossing\, Big Spike Bluegrass\, The Haymakers and Spare Parts among countless other notable groups and musicians. \nThe McCuen Brothers have been performing side-by-side for nearly 30 years\, founding the bands Wiley Dobbs\, Acoustic Undermind\, and Swing Noire\, and sharing the stage with the likes of Frank Vignola\, Jamie Masefield\, Charlie Hunter and Doug Perkins. The brothers provide tight vocal harmonies and rhythmic accompaniment\, as only twins can. Rob dazzles audiences with his fluid solos on mandolin and guitar\, while Jim holds down the low end on upright bass.

At a young age\, Baldi devoted himself to his family’s old vineyards and introduced to La Staffa biodynamic methods\, working with indigenous yeast and aging in concrete tanks.
