A delightful blend of slapstick humor\, poignant emotion\, and social commentary\, The Gold Rush encapsulates Chaplin’s strengths as a writer\, director\, and star. While on a mission to find gold in Alaska\, a lone prospector and Big Jim\, a gold seeker\, take refuge in a cabin during a blizzard. Chaplin – proving his belief that tragedy and ridicule are never far apart – set out to transform tales of privation and horror into a comedy. He decided that his familiar tramp figure should become a gold prospector\, joining the mass of brave optimists to face all the hazards of cold\, starvation\, solitude\, and the occasional incursion of a grizzly bear.\nRandal Pierce is a composer and pianist living in Burlington\, VT. He has been commissioned to write scores for silent films by The Flynn Theater\, The Vermont International Film Festival\, Burlington City Arts\, The Discover Jazz Festival\, The Green Mountain Film Festival and Big Picture Theater. Randal is also a music director for UVM’s Department of Theater and Dance and performs and writes for theater workshops\, performances and recordings in NYC.\nTickets will be available at the box-office. DESCRIPTION:Mad River Glen is proud to be hosting an IFSA Adult 2* event. Come test your mettle on the east coast’s most challenging terrain. This event is limited to 50 competitors. It is a one run event\, the primary venue is Lift Line accessible from the Single Chair. \nWeather  \nStay tuned to the mountain forecast. \nCategories\n·         Female & Male Ski \nRegistration Information \nThere is no day-of registration. Competitors and spectators will need to check in and collect bibs\, ticket vouchers and event information on the 3rd floor of the Basebox.\n·         Lift tickets are required for competitors – a voucher will be given out at bib pick-up to each visiting competitor. This discount ticket voucher will then need to be redeemed at the ticket booth in order to purchase a discounted competitor ticket. \nVenue\nThe venue will be Lift Line under the Single Chair. The length of the course will run roughly from Tower 12 down to the finish just above Tower 9. Lift Line is our primary venue but it is subject to change at the discretion of the Technical Director depending on conditions on the day of the event. \nEvent Timeline \nCheck-in/Bib Pick up 8:00 – 9:00 AM \nSafety Meeting 9:00 AM \nCourse Inspection 9:30-10:30 AM \nEvent Start 11:00 AM \nEvent Finish 2:00 PM \nAwards Deck of the Single 4:20 PM \nVenue Inspection Information\n·         Venue inspection is mandatory for all athletes.\n·         Only registered competitors and IFSA certified coaches are allowed on venue.\n·         During inspection\, athletes must be aware of everyone else around them.\n·         On the day of competition athletes must have an opportunity to have access to the competition venue to inspect the terrain and features within the venue. If the venue must be changed or altered significantly\, after the initial venue inspection\, athletes must have an opportunity for another inspection. \n\nSlow riding/skiing is mandatory during venue inspection.\n·         The Technical Director and/or head judge may disqualify a competitor from the competition for riding fast or recklessly during inspection.\n·         Athletes may not practice\, session or rehearse a line during inspection or jump/drop any features within the venue boundary.\n·         In blind areas it is advised that athletes verbally announce themselves to make others aware of their presence and intended next move/position.\n·         Athletes are to be respectful of fellow athletes\, coaches\, and officials during inspection.\n·         Athletes should be kind to the snow while inspecting.\n·         Terrain enhancement will not be tolerated\, any coach or competitor found altering the venue in any way without prior consent from the Technical Director will be expelled from the competition and black listed for future events – this is a ZERO tolerance policy.\n·         Infractions of inspection rules may result in disqualification from the event.
