Stilt dancers\, paper maché beasts of all sizes and a riotous brass band will make a raucous\, colorful spectacle of protest and celebration. \nThis year The Beginning After the End of Humanity Circus will be performed in our outdoor amphitheater each Saturday and Sunday. \nThe Saturday circus will be followed by a performance of Gaza Gray Lady Cantata. The shows featured the iconic gray lady puppets moving through vignettes both dreamlike and brutal. This new version\, Gaza Gray Lady Cantata\, was created and co-directed this spring by father-daughter team Peter and Maria Schumann. It uses texts from Palestinians living through the war in Gaza\, and\, like the older versions of the show\, is a meditation on grief\, war\, and resistance.\n___________________________________________________________________________ \nBackground Information about Bread and Puppet: \nBread & Puppet Theater is an internationally celebrated company that champions a visually rich\, street-theater style of performance art filled with music\, dance and slapstick. Its shows are political and spectacular\, with huge puppets made of paper maché and cardboard. Founded in 1963 by Peter and Elka Schumann on New York City’s Lower East Side\, the theater has been based in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont since the early 1970s.

DESCRIPTION:Yestermorrow’s work is rooted in an integrated design/build philosophy. We believe that combining design and building offers numerous advantages and promotes the creation of intentional and inspired buildings and communities that enhance our world. Led by founding members of the legendary Jersey Devil Design/Build group and renowned architect Bill Bialosky\, this course is the embodiment of the design/build process. \nThis 2 week crash course teaches students critical skills in both facilitating consensus based design and fundamental carpentry skills. Students engage in a collaborative and interactive process of designing and building a full scale community project. Students will meet with the non-profit or community client\, establish the program\, work within a budget\, propose and develop the design all in just 3 days. Following design approval\, we’ll head to the job site to execute the design. \nThroughout the program students will experience the design/build feedback loop as they gain fundamental carpentry skills while also learning how to adapt existing plans to current conditions. Your creative thinking and problem solving skills will be put to the test! \nThis class is a great fit for people interested in community development\, change making\, architecture\, small scale building and collaborative design.\nThis course is open to architects and builders seeking to earn continuing education credit\, as well as to students\, non-professionals\, and anyone with enthusiasm about design/build and giving back to the public realm. Previous construction experience is not required. However\, a willingness to try is expected!

The Whole Kit and Caboodle Show runs Sundays June 9th-July 7th at 3 p.m. in the Papier Maché Cathedral at the Bread and Puppet farm\, 753 Heights Rd\, Glover\, VT. \nAbout this show Peter Schumann says\, “We\, the Whole Kit & Caboodle bread bakers\, peace and harmony terrorists and criminal trespassers of the fascist empire offer anti-hospital-bombing calisthenics in the face of the Freedom and Democracy Bullshitters\, and precise funeral rites for the collapsing Western Civilization and make our divine paper maché weaponry\, as retrieved from the cardboard industry’s available refuse to defeat the capitalist hegemony and celebrate a brand-new humanity with appropriate victory dances and demonstrate our birthright as children of the one and only Mother Dirt\, who makes us and unmakes us and now requires our full undivided attention.” \nBread and Puppet’s Cheap Art – books\, posters\, postcards\, pamphlets and banners from the Bread and Puppet Press – will be for sale in the Bread & Puppet Museum Store throughout the event. \nTickets for this and other summer shows are $10 each.
