SUMMARY:Zero Celsius
DESCRIPTION:ZERO CELSIUS takes place at Mad Arts and Sugarbush Resort\, and gathers artists who explore the textures\, tensions\, and transformations of winter. \nFrom the hush of frozen landscapes to the volatility of a warming climate\, the exhibition reflects on how the cold season shapes—and is reshaped by—human and environmental relationships. \nBringing together sculpture\, installation\, sound\, photography\, and digital media\, ZERO CELSIUS examines winter as material\, concept\, and metaphor: crystalline\, fleeting\, and ecologically vital. The exhibition invites visitors to consider the fragility of snow in a changing world\, to reconnect with winter’s wonder and silence\, and to share their own stories and memories of a season both timeless and increasingly imperiled.

SUMMARY:CHARLIE CHAPLIN’S THE GOLD RUSH
DESCRIPTION:The Big Picture and Phantom Theater are thrilled to present The Gold Rush- one of the greatest and most classic silent movies\, accompanied with piano music by Randall Pierce. Sunday February 22\, at 4 PM **Free for members \nTime & Location\nFeb 22\, 2026\, 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM\nBig Picture Theater & Cafe\, 48 Carroll Rd\, Waitsfield\, VT 05673\, USA \nAbout the event\nThe Big Picture and Phantom Theater are thrilled to present The Gold Rush- one of the greatest and most classic silent movies\, accompanied with piano music by Randall Pierce. A delightful blend of slapstick humor\, poignant emotion\, and social commentary\, The Gold Rush encapsulates Chaplin’s strengths as a writer\, director\, and star. While on a mission to find gold in Alaska\, a lone prospector and Big Jim\, a gold seeker\, take refuge in a cabin during a blizzard. Chaplin – proving his belief that tragedy and ridicule are never far apart – set out to transform tales of privation and horror into a comedy. He decided that his familiar tramp figure should become a gold prospector\, joining the mass of brave optimists to face all the hazards of cold\, starvation\, solitude\, and the occasional incursion of a grizzly bear.\nRandal Pierce is a composer and pianist living in Burlington\, VT. He has been commissioned to write scores for silent films by The Flynn Theater\, The Vermont International Film Festival\, Burlington City Arts\, The Discover Jazz Festival\, The Green Mountain Film Festival and Big Picture Theater. Randal is also a music director for UVM’s Department of Theater and Dance and performs and writes for theater workshops\, performances and recordings in NYC.\nTickets will be available at the box-office. Price of admission is $15.
