The Whole Kit and Caboodle Show runs Sundays June 9th-July 7th at 3 p.m. in the Papier Maché Cathedral at the Bread and Puppet farm\, 753 Heights Rd\, Glover\, VT.\nAbout this show Peter Schumann says\, “We\, the Whole Kit & Caboodle bread bakers\, peace and harmony terrorists and criminal trespassers of the fascist empire offer anti-hospital-bombing calisthenics in the face of the Freedom and Democracy Bullshitters\, and precise funeral rites for the collapsing Western Civilization and make our divine paper maché weaponry\, as retrieved from the cardboard industry’s available refuse to defeat the capitalist hegemony and celebrate a brand-new humanity with appropriate victory dances and demonstrate our birthright as children of the one and only Mother Dirt\, who makes us and unmakes us and now requires our full undivided attention.”\nBread and Puppet’s Cheap Art – books\, posters\, postcards\, pamphlets and banners from the Bread and Puppet Press – will be for sale in the Bread & Puppet Museum Store throughout the event.\nTickets for this and other summer shows are $10 each. DESCRIPTION:The Mad River Valley Libraries announce a day of free\, celebratory Juneteenth events for all ages. Each library will host a different event that day. \nInspired by the book “Freedom Dreams\, The Black Radical Imagination” by Robin D.G. Kelley\, the Freedom Dreaming Creation workshop provides space to explore our relationships to the idea of freedom. Through conversation\, activity\, and artistic creation\, we imagine environments that can exist beyond our current realities. For freedom dreaming\, all you need is love and your imagination. The workshop is led by Interdisciplinary Artivist\, Educator\, and Warren resident janet e. dandridge. \nThe workshop is best suited for ages 14-adult; however\, families with children as young as 8 may participate together. Pre- registration is required as spaces may be limited. Weather permitting\, the workshop will be held outdoors.

He has also been a featured speaker at the New York Public Library\, the Enoch Pratt Free Library\, and the Mob Museum in Las Vegas.\nHortis’s first book\, The Mob and the City: The Hidden History of How the Mafia Captured New York (Prometheus\, 2014)\, was praised by Jerry Capeci\, the dean of mob reporters\, who wrote: “If there’s a better book on the early history of Cosa Nostra in America\, I haven’t seen it.”\nMalcolm Gladwell quoted Hortis’s book in “The Crooked Ladder: The criminal’s guide to upward mobility” New Yorker\, Aug. 3\, 2014.
