SUMMARY:Birds & Your Buffer Landowner Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Are you curious how you could improve the health and quality of your land? Join Friends of the Mad River and Audubon Vermont for a landowner workshop\, designed for those interested in learning more about land stewardship\, especially in the context of bird habitat and river systems. \nDuring this workshop\, we will explore a landowner’s property that was planted with 1\,200 native trees and shrubs last year as part of ongoing riparian restoration efforts. As we walk and talk\, we will explore the connection between river dynamics\, land management\, bird habitat\, and restoration work. We will learn more about how riparian buffers and upland forests provide valuable habitat for birds as well as protect water quality and river health. \nWe will hear expertise and insights from:\n– Ira Shadis\, Executive Director\, Friends of the Mad River\n– Mark LaBarr\, Conservation Program Manager\, Audubon Vermont\n– Macie Broussard\, Senior Conservation Associate\, Audubon Vermont \nThe event will go on rain or shine\, so we suggest wearing appropriate weather clothing. In the event of rain\, there will be a gathering place out of the elements provided. \nThere is a limited number of spots available for this workshop\, so please register ahead of time. Find registration at https://tinyurl.com/birdsbuffer. To respect the privacy of the landowner\, we will contact you with specifics about the location of the workshop at the email you use to register.

SUMMARY:CHIMERA Co-lab: Work-in-Progress Showing & Artist Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Choreographers and a composer are collaborating on some brand new work together this summer\, and you’re invited to come see what we’ve been working on! \nThe annual CHIMERA Art Co-Lab launched the summer of 2022 as the inaugural artistic residency in the newly-restored Stowell Barn (c.1798). Surrounded by the beautiful dual-tone timber frame that joins old and new lumber\, choreographers came together to experiment with their craft and collaborate on new work together. The CHIMERA Art Co-Lab was established as an embodiment of hybridization–from the creative venue\, to the artistic process and product. At the time of its inception\, returning to in-person creation and performance seemed an unrealizable dream; the CHIMERA Art Co-Lab continues annually as a way to celebrate bringing together artistic bodies and minds in a creative space. \nThe 4th annual Co-lab culminates in an informal ‘work-in-progress’ showing and artist discussion at Stowell Barn with artists in residence:\nReject Dance Theatre and Augmentation Movement Project\nin collaboration with\nMurdock Solo Modular Synthesis \nThis event is FREE and open to the public! Please RSVP on the event website to reserve your seats.

SUMMARY:Bread and Puppet presents: Our Domestic Resurrection Revolution in Progress Circus
DESCRIPTION:Sundays\, July 13-August 31 at 3pm \nThe company presents Our Domestic Revolution in Progress\, a brand new show in the tradition of the iconic Bread & Puppet Circuses that began at Goddard College in Plainfield\, Vermont in 1970.  As usual\, the show will draw on traditional circus tropes and familiar Bread and Puppet iconography to draw attention to the urgent issues of the day. Stilt dancers\, paper maché beasts of all sizes and a riotous brass band make a raucous\, colorful spectacle of protest and celebration. \nAfter the show Bread & Puppet will serve its famous sourdough rye bread with aioli\, and Bread & Puppet’s “Cheap Art” – books\, posters\, postcards\, pamphlets and banners from the Bread & Puppet Press – will be for sale prior and after the show. \nTickets: $15\, no one turned away for lack of funds.\nhttps://breadandpuppet.org/on-the-farm \nDogs are discouraged\, though well behaved dogs on leash are allowed. If you bring your dog\, PLEASE SIT IN THE BACK of the audience\, at the top of the amphitheater\, as far away as possible from the brass band and bring plenty of water (there is none onsite). Dogs are not able to attend our indoor performances.
