SUMMARY:Poetry in the garden – an evening of poetry and plants
DESCRIPTION:To see the Summer Sky\nIs Poetry\, though never in a Book it lie—\nTrue Poems flee—\n– Emily Dickinson \nAs humans\, we process the world through art\, through story. And since humans could first utter words\, word has been a means of both connecting with and understanding our natural world. Join us for an evening of poetry & plants at ShareMRV’s garden as we share poems that speak of the natural world\, and take inspiration from the garden to write some of our own. \nValley Reporter journalist and incredible local writer Erika Nichols-Frazer (whose recent memoir\, Feed Me\, was released in December 2022\, with an upcoming collection of poetry to be published in August)\, as well as garden manager Marissa Alfiero\, will be sharing relevant poems and leading us through prompts to spark creativity. We’ll tour through the garden\, and see how the bright growth of its inhabitants\, plant— insect\, and soil alike—inspire us. \nPlease bring a chair or a blanket to sit on if you’d like\, water\, writing utensils\, and your favorite notebook. Light refreshments will be provided. And do feel free to bring favorite works of your own to share! \nWe look forward to celebrating together the greatest poems never to be put on paper — the very existence and lives of our beloved plant kin.\nFREE; no sign-up required. Join us at Déco Restaurant & Bar\, located within Hostel Tevere\, to sample some amazing wines from Vermont producers\, one Québec producer\, obscure European dessert wines and world renowned Belgian lambics. Two producers will be pouring their art in a bottle: David Keck\, Master Sommelier and Owner/Winemaker at Stella 14 Wines\, and Max Rose\, Owner/Winemaker at Chertok Wines. Phil Christian\, Sales Representative Extraordinaire\, from our distribution partner\, 802 Distributors\, will be pouring four bottles from Pinard et Filles\, located just a short drive north of the Vermont Border in Québec\, from an oxidative style white blend to riesling\, and a unique and experimental white and red blend. These wines are highly sought after throughout Québec and are featured on the wine list at Montréal’s famous Pullman Bar. Here in Vermont\, they are exclusively poured here at Déco. We will take you on a journey of the Belgian lambic\, a unique wine-like style of beer\, one that’s of interest to beer and wine enthusiasts a like. We will cap the night off with a specially selected 2003 vintage Barsac dessert wine alongside two other European dessert wines. \nCarefully curated hyper-local charcuterie boards and several specific dessert pairings will be available throughout the tasting. We will feature the full array of cheeses from von Trapp Farmstead and the entire cured meat selections from Babette’s Table. Mix\, mingle and taste wine together with Rachel\, Erica and Julie from von Trapp Farmstead and Babette’s Table. SUMMARY:Waitsfield Development Review Board (4th Tuesday)
DESCRIPTION:MEETINGS\n\nThe DRB meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month\, 7:00 PM\, at the Waitsfield Town Office. Members are urged to let staff know as early as possible if they will be unable to attend a scheduled meeting so arrangements can be made to ensure a quorum. \nAgendas and Minutes \nMeeting Calendar (2023) \n\n\n\n\nDUTIES\n\nThe Waitsfield Development Review Board was established in 2007 by a resolution that transferred the development review functions of both the Planning Commission and the former Zoning Board of Adjustment to the new DRB.  The DRB’s responsibilities are laid out in both the Vermont State Statutes\, the Waitsfield Zoning Bylaws\, and the Waitsfield Subdivision Regulations. \nThe DRB performs an important and difficult job\, which is carried out by volunteers appointed by the Selectboard.  It is through this review of individual applications that the community’s vision\, goals\, policies\, and priorities–as expressed in the Waitsfield Town Plan and codified in our development regulations–are implemented.  At the same time\, DRB members and others participating in the process must respect due process\, the rights of applicants\, and the rights of the public to participate. \nThe DRB has the following duties (see 24 V.S.A. Section 4460): \n(1) Review of right-of-way or easement for land development without frontage as authorized in 24 V.S.A. 4412(3); (2) Review of land development or use within an historic district or with respect to historic landmarks as authorized in 24 V.S.A. 4414(1)(F)\n(3) Review of land development or use within a design control district as authorized in 24 V.S. A. 4414(1)(E);\n(4) Review of proposed conditional uses as authorized in 24 V.S. A. 4414(3);\n(5) Review of planned unit developments as authorized in 24 V.S.A. 4417;\n(6) Review of requests for waivers as authorized in 24 V.S.A. 4414(9);\n(7) Site plan review as authorized in 24 V.S.A. 4416;\n(8) Review of proposed subdivisions as authorized in 24 V.S.A. 4418;\n(9) Review of wireless telecommunications facilities as authorized in 24 V.S.A. 4414(12);\n(10) Appeals from a decision of the administrative officer pursuant to 24 V.S.A. 4465;\n(11) Review of requests for variances pursuant to 24 V.S.A. 4469; and\n(12) Any other reviews required by the bylaws.
