SUMMARY:The Mad Contemporary Opening Reception & Artist Talk
DESCRIPTION:Mad River Valley Arts in Waitsfield\, VT is excited to present ‘The Mad Contemporary’ a cartoon and comics exhibition running August 2- September 14. \nThe opening reception will be on August 3\, from 5-7pm with an artist talk at 5:30pm. \nMRVArts has invited over a dozen creators of varying ages to share this hybrid art form of pictorial narrative from their own point of view and visual language. Feelings\, ideas and personal myth unfold in dramatic sequencing or single captions of imagery with text. Each of their pictorial approaches of character\, action\, symbol and commentary create story for the purposes of human connection\, reflection and social understanding. Come join us and see how this powerful medium of communication draws upon contemporary life today.

SUMMARY:Good Citizen Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Created and sponsored by Seven Days and KidsVT\, this challenge asks participants to find the answers to some questions about their community\, and to consider what we can do when we work together\, the impact we can have and the messages we can send to each other about how we should act. We will focus on completing one of the challenges listed on the bingo card. Finish a row of five activities and receive a Good Citizen sticker and patch\, a pocket-sized U.S. Constitution\, and an invitation to a fall reception at the Vermont Statehouse\, with special recognition given to those who fill in their whole card. Best for elementary/middle-school-aged children. Part of the Mad River Libraries “All Together Now” summer learning program.

SUMMARY:Clowning Around – Structured Silliness for 3.5-4 Year olds
DESCRIPTION:Structured silliness! Led by Kolleen & Bobby Kintz\, this class  for kids ages 3.5-4 years old will explore creative movement\, comedic expression and ensemble creation. Campers will play games\, move their bodies\, make music and find their funny. Students will share some of what they’ve learned at a showing for parents during the final class. This class will be a drop-off class; however\, there is a shared room in our space where parents can be close by and in sight\, if that is more comfortable for your child.\n\nPlease complete one form for each child who will be attending class.  We will send additional information about class procedures as we get closer to June 19th. Don’t hesitate to call Kolleen at 802-377-1742 or email kolleenkintz@gmail.com with any questions.\n\n\nKolleen Kintz attended Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre in 2010. Starting in 2011\, she and Bobby began training with Dody Disanto at The Center for Movement Theatre in Washington DC. They have performed with the DC Fringe Festival\, Zip Zap Circus and regularly at Clown Cabaret. In 2014\, the duo traveled to Haiti to volunteer with Clowns Without Borders and performed for over 5000 children. Kolleen later became a hospital clown for Healthy Humor and made rounds as Dr. Pickle at Johns Hopkins for 6 years.\n\nKolleen & Bobby Kintz have been teaching artists since 2013. Beginning their journey with the instruction of 3 & 4 year olds\, in Del Ray\, VA. Later developing their own circus camp for ages 5-13\, which ran in Baltimore at Morgan State University for 5 years. More recently\, the journey has been parenthood! It is very exciting to be offering this class to the community\, in our new hometown of Waitsfield.
