DESCRIPTION:Skiers and riders will meet at either Sugarbush or Mad River Glen in the wee hours of the morning to rise and rip! Exact time and location will be TBD each week based on conditions. The event leader will communicate the details each week via email/text to all who opt in to the group. Feel free to email info@mrvbc.org for more info. Uphill passes required at Sugarbush. All participants must read and adhere to the uphill policies: Sugarbush and Mad River Glen. All participants will be required to complete a waiver through MRVBC for each Thursday. Bring coffee/tea\, snacks\, and layers. See our Difficulty Rating System (https://www.mrvbc.org/events/tours) to determine if MRVBC’s tours are the right fit for you. This will be an intermediate uphill pace\, not a race! The downhill could be advanced terrain depending on conditions and route. DESCRIPTION:Join Brian Mohr (Ember Hill Farm) at Living Tree Alliance’s (LTA) community orchard to learn about planting and caring for fruit trees and berry bushes. Brian will model a few techniques\, and then folks will plant fruit trees and shrubs in the orchard. LTA educator Melanie Grubman will also lead families in some activities\, and kids will get a chance to explore the adventure playground and visit the animals. This research proves what we already know to be true\, that stress leaves physical\, emotional\, and spiritual wounds in our bodies. Dr. Robert Anda\, the author of the ACE study tells us that “what is predictable is preventable;” yet how do we prevent that which we cannot even speak? The ACEs framework is the language\, and by bearing witness\, we remove shame and empower ourselves and each other. The Vermont Kindness Project believes that the time is now to create a brighter and more loving world\, and that kindness to ourselves\, our fellow humans\, and the earth can and should save the world.

SUMMARY:Bread and Puppet Museum Opening and The Whole Kit and Caboodle Show
DESCRIPTION:Bread & Puppet will host our traditional Museum Open House Sunday\, June 2nd at 2 p.m. As always\, this celebratory afternoon of performances\, bread\, and museum appreciation will mark the beginning of a bustling summer season at the Bread & Puppet farm. \nThe Open House will begin at the entrance of our Museum\, where local singers will gather to sing songs in the “Shape Note” tradition\, an early American sacred singing tradition with deep roots in Vermont\, in four-part harmony. Next\, the Museum will receive its ceremonial opening for the season: the museum guard will be woken up and reinstalled at his post for the summer. The public will be invited to peruse the museum.\nIn keeping with tradition\, the middle of the afternoon will feature performances by B&P friends and guests with original music and short puppet shows at locations around the B&P farm. \nThe afternoon will conclude with The Whole Kit and Caboodle Show! \n“We the Whole Kit & Caboodle bread bakers\, peace and harmony terrorists\, and criminal trespassers of the fascist empire offer anti-hospital bombing calisthenics in the face of the Freedom and Democracy Bullshitters\, and precise funeral rites for the collapsing Western Civilization and make our divine papermaché weaponry as retrieved from the cardboard industry’s available refuse to defeat the capitalist hegemony and celebrate a brand-new humanity with appropriate victory dances and demonstrate our birthright as children of the one and only Mother Dirt who makes us and unmakes us and now requires our full undivided attention.” -Peter Schumann \nAfter the show Bread & Puppet will serve its famous sourdough rye bread with aioli\, and Bread & Puppet’s “Cheap Art” – books\, posters\, postcards\, pamphlets and banners from the Bread & Puppet Press – will be for sale. \nTickets for the Summer 2024 shows are $10 each. Admission by donation for kids 6 and under. We ask that you purchase a ticket ahead of time if you’re able. However\, it’s central to our philosophy for our shows to be accessible and no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Co-founders Rose Friedman and Justin Lander are a husband and wife duo\, producers for Vermont Vaudeville and alumni of the Bread and Puppet Theater. As parents themselves\, they strive to present quality entertainment that the whole family can enjoy. Following the show\, flatbread\, salads and drinks will be available for dinner for purchase in the pavilion. We also plan to have a 40th Birthday treat surprise! Please dress for the weather and bring a blanket or camp chairs to sit on during the show. Everyone is invited!
