DESCRIPTION:Choreographers and a composer are collaborating on some brand new work together this summer\, and you’re invited to come see what we’ve been working on! \nThe annual CHIMERA Art Co-Lab launched the summer of 2022 as the inaugural artistic residency in the newly-restored Stowell Barn (c.1798). Surrounded by the beautiful dual-tone timber frame that joins old and new lumber\, choreographers came together to experiment with their craft and collaborate on new work together. The CHIMERA Art Co-Lab was established as an embodiment of hybridization–from the creative venue\, to the artistic process and product. At the time of its inception\, returning to in-person creation and performance seemed an unrealizable dream; the CHIMERA Art Co-Lab continues annually as a way to celebrate bringing together artistic bodies and minds in a creative space. \nThe 4th annual Co-lab culminates in an informal ‘work-in-progress’ showing and artist discussion at Stowell Barn with artists in residence:\nReject Dance Theatre and Augmentation Movement Project\nin collaboration with\nMurdock Solo Modular Synthesis \nThis event is FREE and open to the public! DESCRIPTION:Join Larissa in Stowell Barn for the first Line Dancing BOOTCAMP of the season!\nThis will be an INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED lesson\nLine Dance to Chappell Roan’s ‘Giver’ (‘Get the Job Done’–‘Stud Country’ version) \n***Limited to 15 participants*** \nTickets:\n$12 online in advance (see linked event page\, payment by credit card)\n$15 at the door (as available–credit card\, cash\, or Venmo) \n(prices include VT sales tax) \nWHAT TO EXPECT:\n+ Barn Doors open at 6:45PM—check in with Larissa when you arrive\n+ if there are spots still available they will be first come first served (call or text for day-of availability)\n+ Lesson starts at 7PM\, end time is after everyone feels good with the choreography or 8:30PM\, whichever comes first!\n+ We will be working on a single (and more challenging) dance\, so this will feel a bit more like a dance class than ‘Boots & Burgers’ typically does\n+ limited class size: my fabulous sprung dance floor is modestly sized\, and I’ll be taking time to give individual assistance throughout the evening \nABOUT THE VENUE:\n+ Located on East Warren Rd. It’s going to be chilly this late in the season\, but once we start moving we may warm up some and may want to don/doff layers. I’ll have the patio heater going\, but keep in mind that Stowell Barn is a 3 season space \nLessons & Dancing:\n+ ~ 45 min to 1 hr lessons for 3 different line dances at multiple entry levels (beginner & advanced beginner); folks can participate in as much or as little as they’d like.\n+ After lessons I’ll play music and folks will get a chance to practice the dances we learned at different tempos on our sprung floor (your knees and feet will thank you)\n+ if folks have dances they’d like to do that I’m NOT teaching\, I’m happy to take requests for later in the evening! SUMMARY:New Works from the CHIMERA Art Co-Lab: Dance Performance & Artist Discussion
DESCRIPTION:The CHIMERA Art Co-Lab is an annual experimental choreographic residency at Waitsfield’s historic Stowell Barn. This summer’s residency culminates in a performance of New Works presented by Phantom Theater at Edgcomb Barn in Warren\, VT. \nThe CHIMERA Art Co-Lab launched in 2022 and was established as an embodiment of hybridization: from the creative venue\, to the artistic process and product. At the time of its inception\, returning to in-person creation and performance seemed an unrealizable dream; the CHIMERA Art Co-Lab continues annually as a way to celebrate bringing together artistic bodies and minds in a creative space. \nAt this year’s week-long residency\, Farmsprung Gatherings reports that the Co-Lab is expanding to include former students of the founding members.\nOriginal Artists in Residence Amy C. Foley of MA\, Stephanie Simpson of NYC\, Larissa D. Ursprung of VT\, and Stephen Ursprung of RI\, return to create a new work-in-progress in collaboration with the newest CHIMERA Artists: Katie Bogardus of NY\, Syra Pandey of MA\, and Kaylen Travison of NY.\nIn addition to this new work\, the company will re-stage the 2022 Co-Lab work “The Space[s] We Hold” which premiered at Phantom Theater and was recently re-staged at Dean College.

DESCRIPTION:An OPEN BARN event to support artists participating in a residency this summer \nDon’t miss seeing the upcoming full-occlusion solar eclipse! The Mad River Valley will be in the perfect path for viewing this celestial event\, and Stowell Barn is surrounded by a beautiful unobstructed vista that can’t be beat. Eclipse photographers looking for where to set up? Look no further! \nCome check out our recently-restored historic space and enjoy some light snacks\, good company\, games\, a celestially-themed playlist\, and a collaborative dance composition demo following the eclipse (no dance experience needed to participate). All are welcome! \nThis event is open to the public\, and will be ‘contribute what you can’ at the door/online. All contributions* will directly support dancers and choreographers participating in the CHIMERA Art Co-Lab hosted by Farmsprung Gatherings in July\, 2024. \nWe are opening the barn doors early this year for this special event: keep in mind that this is Vermont in early April\, and the barn is technically 3 season so it may be CHILLY! We have a patio heater for hand warming and are planning for some warm beverages\, but check the weather and dress accordingly. \nLimited parking on site on the grass\, with additional public parking at Common Road. \nRemember you shouldn’t look directly at the eclipse—bring protective eye-wear! We will have limited eclipse shades available. \n*Please note that financial contributions—although directly benefiting artists—are not tax deductible. \nA note re: accessibility–if you have specific needs please alert us ahead of time and we will do everything we can to accommodate you! We have portable ramps to make our barn space and dance floor accessible\, but the space is surrounded by grass which can be challenging for wheelchairs.
