DESCRIPTION:An OPEN BARN event to support artists participating in a residency this summer \nDon’t miss seeing the upcoming full-occlusion solar eclipse! The Mad River Valley will be in the perfect path for viewing this celestial event\, and Stowell Barn is surrounded by a beautiful unobstructed vista that can’t be beat. Eclipse photographers looking for where to set up? Look no further! \nCome check out our recently-restored historic space and enjoy some light snacks\, good company\, games\, a celestially-themed playlist\, and a collaborative dance composition demo following the eclipse (no dance experience needed to participate). All are welcome! \nThis event is open to the public\, and will be ‘contribute what you can’ at the door/online. All contributions* will directly support dancers and choreographers participating in the CHIMERA Art Co-Lab hosted by Farmsprung Gatherings in July\, 2024. \nWe are opening the barn doors early this year for this special event: keep in mind that this is Vermont in early April\, and the barn is technically 3 season so it may be CHILLY! We have a patio heater for hand warming and are planning for some warm beverages\, but check the weather and dress accordingly. \nLimited parking on site on the grass\, with additional public parking at Common Road. \nRemember you shouldn’t look directly at the eclipse—bring protective eye-wear! We will have limited eclipse shades available. \n*Please note that financial contributions—although directly benefiting artists—are not tax deductible. \nA note re: accessibility–if you have specific needs please alert us ahead of time and we will do everything we can to accommodate you! We have portable ramps to make our barn space and dance floor accessible\, but the space is surrounded by grass which can be challenging for wheelchairs.

DESCRIPTION:Alright MRV\, I hear you want to DANCE! Help me try out some future programming for next season—if folks are interested\, I’ll offer this kind of gathering more regularly in the future. \nI’m offering more LINE DANCING lessons by popular demand before we close up Stowell Barn for the season.\nJoin me for some low-stakes social dancing that you can do solo—no dance experience required (plus no hetero-normative male/female\, lead/follow roles to navigate!). \nThis Thursday it will be pay what you wish at the door via Venmo\, Square (credit card)\, or cash. \nHere’s what to expect & bring:\nAttire:\n+ comfy shoes for dancing (boots are fun but not required)\n+ wear warm clothes you can move in\, specifically LAYERS! It’s going to be chilly this late in the season\, but once we start moving we may warm up some and may want to don/doff layers. I’ll have the patio heater going\, but keep in mind that Stowell Barn is a 3 season space \nLessons & Dancing:\n+ ~ 45 min to 1 hr lessons for 3 different line dances at multiple entry levels (beginner & advanced beginner); folks can participate in as much or as little as they’d like.\n+ After lessons I’ll play music and folks will get a chance to practice the dances we learned at different tempos on our sprung floor (your knees and feet will thank you)\n+ if folks have dances they’d like to do that I’m NOT teaching\, I’m happy to take requests for later in the evening! Just let me know what songs to add to the playlist. SUMMARY:CHIMERA Co-lab: Work-in-Progress Showing & Artist Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Choreographers and a composer are collaborating on some brand new work together this summer\, and you’re invited to come see what we’ve been working on! \nThe annual CHIMERA Art Co-Lab launched the summer of 2022 as the inaugural artistic residency in the newly-restored Stowell Barn (c.1798). Surrounded by the beautiful dual-tone timber frame that joins old and new lumber\, choreographers came together to experiment with their craft and collaborate on new work together. The CHIMERA Art Co-Lab was established as an embodiment of hybridization–from the creative venue\, to the artistic process and product. At the time of its inception\, returning to in-person creation and performance seemed an unrealizable dream; the CHIMERA Art Co-Lab continues annually as a way to celebrate bringing together artistic bodies and minds in a creative space. \nThe 4th annual Co-lab culminates in an informal ‘work-in-progress’ showing and artist discussion at Stowell Barn with artists in residence:\nReject Dance Theatre and Augmentation Movement Project\nin collaboration with\nMurdock Solo Modular Synthesis \nThis event is FREE and open to the public! DESCRIPTION:Open Barn Event | Free & open to the public\, fun for all ages! \nIt’s that time of year again… Join us for cider pressing (and drinking) at Stowell Barn\, plus games\, light snacks\, and good company! \nDefinitely bring:\n1. weather-appropriate clothing (this event is rain or shine\, and is essentially outdoors so it may be chilly!)\n2. some elbow grease for crushing & pressing apples \nOptional things to bring:\n1. your own apples to press (highly recommended—our apple trees had a hard time this year so we are working with much less fruit than usual!)\n2. clean water-tight containers to take cider home with you\n3. snacks and/or drinks to share with friends & neighbors \nAbout the Venue:\nParking is on the grass\, perpendicular to the barn (look for a white sandwich board marking a curb cut!)\nAccessible porta-let available on-site \nQuestions?
